Huawei’s Honor devices to get Marshmallow update commencing February 2016

World’s second largest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei, is warming up to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update for its popular Honor band smartphones. Honor users in India are likely to start receiving Marshmallow OTA updates starting February 2016.

The news first broke out on twitter as the company decided to tweet about it via official handle @HiHonorIndia. Company tweeted: “Coming soon! Starting February 2016, we will be rolling out Android M to honor phones.” So far, Company hasn’t announced any specific release date. The Honor series includes Honor 4C, Honor 4X Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus and the Honor 7 handset.  From this list, we expect Honor 7 to receive this update first.

Priced at Rs. 22,999, the Honor 7 features a 5.2-inch FHD display, Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB internal storage with microSD expansion slot. Huawei’s engineers were also able to pack in a 20-megapixel camera with Sony sensor, 8-megapixel selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE support, and a 3,100mAh battery. The phone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with custom Emotion 3.1 UI layered on top.

Google at its event last month, also showcased Android 6.0 Marshmallow running on brand new Nexus devices. Unlike Lollipop’s visual overhaul, Google has tried to enhance user experience with this latest version update. With Android 6.0 Marshmallow you will finally get Google Now on Tap, the auto rotate option for homescreen, you get granular control over what goes in your status bar and what permissions Apps get to exploit, you get new copy-paste menu, new storage menu, new RAM manager, new API for fingerprint scanner, adoptable storage and a lot more.
