Huawei teased a new smartphone right before the Grand IFA 2016 event which is to be held in Berlin. We can hope for something amazing from them as they claim to ‘Defy Expectations’ with the new handset.

The teaser doesn’t reveal much. If we had to guess, we would say the upcoming Huawei phone, most likely the Mate S2, will flaunt metal body and 2.5D glass construction.

Based on the rumors and speculations that are prevailing around, they are probably introducing their Mate S2 alongside Mate 9 at the IFA 2016. The handset in question received a Green flag from TENNA recently. So presumably, it will make the cut for Huawei’s IFA lineup.

On the other hand, recently leaked renders of Mate 9 confirm a dual camera setup, quite like what we saw in P9.

Talking of Huawei Mate S2 specification, it flaunts a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display with a curved Glass layer on top. Under the hood, it is powered by 2.66 GHz octa-core Kirin 960 processor paired with 4GB RAM. On the optics front, it sports a 16 MP rear shooter and an 8 MP Selfie snapper. As far as design is concerned, the handset appears much like their own Nexus 6P. At least from behind.

At the other end, Huawei Mate 9 features a 5.9-inch QHD display, HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC, and a fingerprint scanner placed right below the dual camera setup. Both Huawei Mate 9 and Mate S2 run Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

The IFA event will kick off at 19:30 IST on August 31, 2016. Nothing more about the event except a vague teaser has been officially confirmed by Huawei as of yet.

We will have more to talk about once the phone goes official.
