Design and Display

No doubt Samsung galaxy S6 is surely one of the sleekest and the most refined Samsung phone to date with a metal edging and glass panels on both front and back. It’s thin with a really beautiful finish, feels light weighted in the hand and has a curved display. Samsung Galaxy S6 display is a 5.1 inch QHD Super AMOLED touch display on its Galaxy S6 flagship, with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 boasting a pixel density of 577 ppi featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen protection.

By contrast, the HTC One M9 hasn’t changed a great deal from the previous model. HTC has slightly recounted the back panel and edges in the name of good handling. HTC One M9 has 5 inch Super LCD 3 display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 441 ppi. It may not be as sharp, but 1080p on a 5 inch display still looks pretty good and is guarded alongside by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Processor and Storage

The lightning-fast 64-bit octa-core (eight-core) processor powers both devices, in which M9 runs on the Snapdragon 810 and the Galaxy S6 runs on Android v5.0 Lollipop, Exynos 7420 processor. Both phones have 3 GB of RAM.

If storage is your main concern, you’ll get lots of space with both devices. The M9 is equipped with 32 GB of internal storage, and you can expand it up to 128 GB via microSD card. Galaxy S6, comes in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants, but there’s no microSD card slot.

Camera

HTC M9 features a 20 megapixel, rear-facing camera with HD video recording at 2160p @30fps and a 5 megapixel front camera that is capable of taking an awesome selfies.

Galaxy S6 comes with a 16-megapixel primary camera which can capture 2160p HD videos @30 fps, and a 5-megapixel, wide-angle, front-facing camera that captures better images in offices and other low-light environments.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S6 battery is a non-removable 2550 mAh setup which supports wireless charging technology.  The battery also supports turbo charging with which it can be charged to last up to 4 hours in just 10 minutes, as Samsung says.

The One M9 has 2840 mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 2.0. HTC claims the HTC One M9 battery to provide 3G talktime of 21.8 hours and 3G standby of 16.8 days.

Verdict

If I have to choose one of them (though I wouldn’t mind getting both of them), I would go for Samsung Galaxy S6 as it has a beautiful design and is a beauty to handle. Apart from looks, it dominates HTC M9 in terms of features such as greater camera options, fingerprint scanner and heart rate sensor as well as optical image stabilization in the camera. The faster UFS memory could also prove to be a significant advantage.
