House of the Dragon fans may have to wait a while longer for the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel. According to a recent report, a top HBO executive confirmed that the earliest we can expect to see season 2 is in 2024, which is approximately 12-15 months away. In an interview with Variety, HBO Max Content CEO Casey Bloys stated that it would be a “good guess” to expect a 2024 release date, adding that while the show won’t be eligible for next year’s Emmys, fans can still look forward to its highly anticipated return.

House of the Dragon Season 2 release date

HBO Max Content CEO Casey Bloy hinted in a recent interview with Variety that House of the Dragon Season 2 could be released in 2024, but he did not give an exact date. The eligibility window for the 2024 Emmys closes on May 31st, which suggests that the show won’t be released until June 2024 at the earliest. Fans of the series will have to wait at least 15 more months before they can catch up with their favorite characters.

According to Bloy, the reason for the delay is that the production team prioritizes quality scripts over releasing multiple seasons quickly. “I am not doing it based on wanting to have one a year, two a year. I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about,” he said in the interview.
