Honor has finally unveiled its latest in line, Honor Play, in India. The smartphone will be available post 4 pm IST starting August 6, exclusively via Amazon. Honor Play was first launched in China, last month. Major highlights for this phone include a 19.5:9 display, dual rear camera setup, its last year debutant GPU Turbo technology, which claims a performance boost of up to 60 percent and reduces battery consumption by a maximum of 30 percent. Honor is also pitching for EMUI 8.2’s AI features in its latest launch, that covers aspects like AI-based Face Unlock, Notification Safety, Party Mode, scene, object, 3D facial recognition and so on.
An AI-based shopping facilitator called “Hi Touch,” that works on the principle of reverse image search is also present within Honor Play. Using the “Hi Touch,” users can search for a product on Amazon India by taking a picture of the product and employing it for search within the app.
Honor Play Features
The new Honor Play’s exterior features a notched, 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) display, with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It also bears a vertically arranged dual rear camera setup, with the 16MP superior camera sporting f/2.2 aperture, and the lesser camera featuring a 2-megapixel sensor, with f/2.4 aperture. Both the cameras are assisted by PDAF, and a single tone LED flashlight, resting below the vertical setup. On the front, the Honor Play features a 16-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture. A selfie snapper, housing 16MP sensor, with a f/2.0 aperture is present within the notch. A fingerprint sensor is also present on the rear centre of the phone. The phone will be available in Midnight Black and Navy Blue colour options.

Android 8.1 Oreo software, topped by EMUI 8.2 skin, will be the interface you’d interact with. The device is powered by a Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, with four cores clocked at 2.36GHz and other four clocked at 1.8GHz.
This Dual-SIM smartphone is available in 2 memory variants- 4GB/6GB RAM, paired with a 64GB of internal memory, expandable up to 256GB by microSD.
Connectivity features on board for this smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-C (v2.0), GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors present within Honor Play comprises of accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and digital compass.
Honor Play price with launch offers
The price for base variant of Honor Play in India is marked at Rs. 19,999 (4GB RAM variant) and the higher 6GB RAM option costs Rs. 23,999. The phone will be available for purchase starting August 6, exclusively from Amazon India and Honor’s HiHonorStore. The Honor Play has tied up with Vodafone for rolling out launch offers on retailing of Honor Play. This offer will comprise access TO10GB additional data per month for a period of one year, besides Amazon Prime subscriptions, and lots more.
