HONOR has started the year 2020 with a bang. The company that’s known to engineer youth-centric phone recently launched HONOR 9X, a phone that perfectly blends advanced hardware with features that young consumers desire, thus resulting in phenomenal experience.

HONOR X series has always been about packaging the latest technology in attractive designs for affordable prices. In line with the established legacy, the HONOR 9X offers powerful specs, a very alluring triple camera setup and an immersive full-view display for a very aggressive price. Should this be your next phone? Let’s talk about what makes the HONOR 9X tick.

Capture Every Detail

The HONOR 9X sports a versatile triple camera setup at the back. The primary sensor with 48MP resolution has a large ½-inch size and is aided by a wide f/1.8 aperture lens to gather maximum light. The high-resolution camera is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter (120-degrees) that captures a broader perspective of your everyday life and a 2-megapixel depth sensor that puts you in focus, no matter what.

Equally matched is the AI-powered image processing software. Using AI, HONOR 9X can recognize 500 scenarios in 22 different categories.

No surprise then that we could effortlessly shoot crisp shots with rich colors and contrast in daylight and even indoors under artificial lighting. But it was the camera performance in low light that swept us off our feet.

The 9X has a meticulously crafted, AI-powered Night Mode that can smartly detect if your phone is handheld or on a tripod. Smart algorithms help the phone recognize the scene and intelligently tune exposure before capturing the shot. The phone then eliminates shakes and jitters and balances colors in post-processing. The end result is stunning clarity even in shots clicked in imperfect lighting.

The long list of useful camera features also includes the ability to capture AI stabilized videos and 480fps 16x slow-motion videos.

Capture Expressive Selfies

Another camera aspect that millennials prioritize is selfies. If you’re a sucker for self-expression, 9X’s 16-megapixel snapper will bring out the beauty like none other in the segment. The selfie shooter pops out in a jiff, off the silo on the top frame and picks every detail of your face. The photos have sufficient light and true-to-life color accuracy. The camera app does justice to beauty and bokeh of portraits. So, there’ll be no more camera shyness, only expressive moments!

And just as everything HONOR 9X, the pop-up selfie camera is smart. It can intelligently detect free falls and external pressure, and in response quickly retract itself to minimize the risk of damage. Moreover, the pop-up module is also protected against dust and splash.

An Expanse of a Display

There is an IPS display on the front which stretches 6.59 inches diagonally and offers around 84.3% screen-to-body ratio. This is an FHD+ panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 391 PPI density. And adios to the notch as now everything from media to gaming will be distraction-free, in light of the pop-up selfie snapper.

The display quality is quite impressive – images and texts appear perfectly crisp, viewing angles are wide, and colors are punchy. Watching videos is particularly pleasant, thanks to AI Video Enhancement that adjusts the contrast and smartly embellishes excessively bright and dark areas. The handset also has TUV Rheinland-certified Eye Comfort Mode that filters blue light to prevent eye strain.

So, in short, enjoy the expanse.

Excuse the Charger

HONOR has packed a copious amount of juice inside the 9X, making it a made-for-mobility machine. Low-charge anxiety will be old news thanks to the 4000mAh battery. This is partly the courtesy of EMUI 9.1 software that, apart from being feature-rich and intuitive, is quite deft at managing resources.

Dandy Dynamic X Design

HONOR’s design philosophy, like always, hits the sweet spot between strength and style. 9X comes in a glass sandwich flanked by a metal outline. But the real kicker is the Dynamic X design which demands attention. Every time light falls on its surface, you’ll get to see multiple X patterns shimmering from the center. This is subtle yet sublime. It is nothing less than what one would expect from the HONOR school of design.

Reliable Performance

All these and a reliable mix of specs to exact the experience. HONOR 9X runs on the company’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 710F silicon. The 12nm process-based octa-core chipset is one of the best chipsets in its class. It’s powerful enough to handle everything you’d throw at it and the GPU Turbo 3.0 technology further lends a significant performance boost, making 9X a very alluring option for consumers who prioritize gaming.

The day-to-day performance is extremely consistent, thanks to abundant memory in stock. The 9X comes with 6GB of RAM and is bolstered by 128GB of UFS 2. Storage and EROFS File System. Yes, in case you’re wondering, you get the option to expand storage up to an extra 512gigs using a micro SD card.

Amazing Price, Extraordinary Experience

The practical usage experience that HONOR 9X endows far exceeds the sum of its raw specs. The phone has a stunning design and is driven by exceptionally smart software that’s backed by capable performance hardware. It’s also the best budget phone in the pop-up category, with impressive 48-megapixel triple rear cameras.

You can buy HONOR 9X (4 + 128GB) for Rs 13,999 on Flipkart starting January 19. On first day sale (i.e. 19th Jan only), the handset will be available for a discount of Rs. 1,000. Additionally, the instant 10% discount on ICICI Bank Credit Card and Kotak Mahindra debit or credit cards from 19th to 22nd Jan drags down the effective price to Rs. 11,699 (on Jan 19).
