HMD Global is reportedly launching its new phone, the Nokia X, on April 27. This will add to the company’s lineup of 2018 devices, which already saw the inclusion of Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirrocco.

The coming of Nokia X was teased by the digital hoardings put up in the mall of China, which showed renders of the new Nokia device forming an X. Unfortunately, no other information was revealed about the device, and it could either be the mid-range phone or flagship phone.

Having said that, since HMD Global is in the nomenclature of numbering their phones, the ‘X’ in the upcoming Nokia phone could be the number ’10’. That places it in the top of the hierarchy, thus wouldn’t be wrong to presume the Nokia X as the company’s flagship phone.

Nokia X Specifications (Expected)

The hoardings only revealed the phone from the side and had no information of Nokia X along with it. So we can’t say for sure that what all specifications and feature the device is going to feature. But based on the leaked advertisement, it appears that the Nokia X will have a 2.5D curved display and a metal body.

The Original Nokia X

I don’t know how many of you remember this, but Nokia already has an ‘X’ model that was launched at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. In fact, it was the first Nokia-branded smartphone to run Google’s Android mobile OS.

The Nokia X (2014) was an entry-level phone and run on the forked version of Android, which didn’t have the Google Play store. The device was a major failure — both commercially and critically.

However, things are pretty different now, the Nokia phones have a new home, HMD Global, under which it is doing phenomenally well. We expect the Nokia X to be another deal breaker and bring fortunes to the company.
