Google recently created a buzz in the industry with the release of the Android 13 operating system for the Pixel smartphones. The OS is only available for the latest generation of Pixel phones – Pixel 6, 6a, and 6 Pro.

These handsets, after installing Android 13 once, will not be able to get Android 12 back. The alterations that are a part of the Android 13 have been mentioned on the Android 13 Factory Images page for the Pixel smartphones.

The anti-rollback feature rolled out for the Pixel smartphones is something new. The reason behind the same has not been revealed by Google. Nonetheless, it is being said that the Google Tensor chips used in these devices can easily protect them from any kind of future exploits.

As of now, the anti-rollback feature is only available for the Google Pixel phones. Other eligible Pixel phones for the same are Google Pixel 4a, 4a 5G, Pixel 5a, and Pixel 5.

All that is new in Android 13

We are going to see a handful of new features in the Google Android 13 operating system. First things first, the home screen of the device will be completely customisable with different builds based on the Material You design theme that we also saw on the Android 12 OS.

Customize 3rd party Apps

According to Google, the users will be able to customise the non-Google applications too. In addition, Android users will also be able to assign a specific language to different applications on their devices. This feature will mainly help the people who are more comfortable with using regional languages.

In terms of privacy, Android 13 users will be allowed to select photos and videos with an application. The users are not supposed to share the entire photo library with any app that asks for permission.

Clipboard History protection

Google has also added higher protection for the clipboard data, specifically in the case of copying sensitive data like phone numbers, login credentials, email addresses, etc. The Android 13 will automatically clear your clipboard history after regular time intervals.

Spatial Audio

Spatial Audio support is also going to be a part of the Android 13 OS. This feature will offer a pretty immersive listening experience via the headphones that support it. Moreover, not all the apps will be allowed to drop notifications in Android 13.

Bluetooth (LE) Audio

All the downloaded apps will need explicit permission from the user to send notifications. In addition, Google is also going to work on the Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio, which is a new Bluetooth audio standard that offers low latency as compared to classic audio.

Smoother and Improved UI

In Android 13, multitasking is going to be smoother than the older versions. Google has decided to provide an updated taskbar where the users can access all the primary applications. Furthermore, the users will be able to drag and drop any application in the split-screen mode.
