Google Pixel 8 Pro gets first-ever AI Core Update

Google Pixel 8 Pro phones are now getting one-of-a-kind updates. Dubbed as the first-ever official update on the AI Core app, it app enhances the AI functionalities. As reported by 9to5Google, the update bumps the app version from 0.release.539035001 to 0.release.58265226 and is available across Android 14 builds (stable and beta QR1 and QPR2) builds. Unfortunately, the update is only applicable to Pixel 8 Pro, and thus, neither Pixel 8 or older devices are eligible at the time of writing this. 

In case you are wondering what’s AI Core app on Pixel 8 Pro is, it’s an app that allows Pixel devices to deliver AI experiences on the device for various AI features from Google and other apps. It runs on devices mostly as a background service and supports various AI functions such as enhanced Google Assistant responses, and automatic scene detection for the camera among others. 

The AI Core app also manages AI foundation models needed to bump the performances of on-device features such as Photo Unblur and Magic Eraser, both exclusive to Pixel 8 Pro. The app updates AI models required for all these AI features and functionalities to function on refining their responses as and when the models are updated. 

Note that the AI Core app on Pixel 8 Pro is getting the upgrade. It means Pixel 8 and older devices will have to wait for their share of updates.
