Google’s Android TV Dongle has reportedly cleared the first hurdle by passing through FCC certification in the US. According to reports, the dongle from the search-engine giant comes with “4K ATV Stick”, HDMI connectivity, the latest version of Android TV, and Google Assistant enabled voice remote.
The device was first spotted by Ausdroid and is allegedly dubbed as Pixel Player. This new streaming stick is developed by Shenzhen SEI Robotics Co., Ltd, which has already developed a handful of Android TV devices. And it could be Google’s way to take on Amazon Fire TV stick.

Google Android TV Dongle Features (Expected)
The renders of Android TV Dongle or Pixel Player will remind you of Google Chromecast. However, the design this time is oval-shaped, instead of circular and has a more prominent Google’s ‘G’ embedded on top. The dongle also comes with a power adapter and cable.
As for the specifications, the product’s user manual states that the Dongle is powered by Analogic S905X processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 8GB eMMC storage space. Plus, it has an HDMI (2.0A) output and 5V/2A power input. There’s also a remote with a built-in mic and a dedicated button for summoning Google Assistant to get the work done via oral commands.

The connectivity options on the Android TV Dongle include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1. Leaked images also confirmed a TV version of Android Oreo running on the device.
The product is pretty straightforward, but there is a catch here. However, there is no past record of “Shenzhen SEI Robotics Co.” dealing directly with Google and that makes us doubt the authenticity of these leaks.
But, given that Google has been working on an Android TV stick for a while, the Pixel Picture arrival seems imminent. We expect things to be more clear at the upcoming Google’s I/O event in June 2018.
