After cars, semi vehicles and battery technologies, Elon Musk now envisages electrifying the pickup truck segment. At the Tesla Design Center in Los Angeles today, Musk introduced the company’s new electric pickup truck christened Cybertruck. And like its name, the truck does look something from a neo-noir sci-fi flick. Like always, Musk presented the audience with tech specs that’s enough for the fans to nerd out.

Looking at the Tesla Cybertruck, two things are likely to come to one’s mind. First, it doesn’t look like a traditional pick truck. Secondly, Bladerunner. Yeah, I mean the movie franchise starring Harrison Ford.

It has a sturdy exoskeleton made out of ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled steel, which the company claims to withstand sledgehammers and 9mm handgun bullets. Musk cited this material is used in its Mars rocket prototype called ‘Starship rocketship’.

Speaking of strength, Tesla vaunts the use of Armor Glass on the windshield and other windows. However, during the live demo, they accidentally cracked the rear and front windows.

Coming to performance and efficiency, the Cybertruck brags an acceleration from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and up to 500 miles of range.

As for the main utility, i.e., pick-up, it sports 100 cubic feet of lockable external storage, and carry a cargo of up to 3,500lbs. Further, it features an adjustable air suspension that raises and lowers suspension four inches in either direction for easy access to Cybertruck or the vault. Tesla says it can auto adapt for your convenience.

Buyers can go with a self-driving option as well.
