CES 2016: LG’s Absurdly Slim G6 TV Steals The Show

At CES this year, LG demonstrated its Ultra-Premium range of consumer electronics products, clubbed together under its new Signature series. Signature series products include a smart washing machine that can handle two loads at a time, a refrigerators that lights up and lets you check its content with a simple knock, an Air purifier which actively demonstrates the degraded quality of Air in your room and a super-duper slim line of  OLED TV, measuring just 2.57 mm!!

Now that is insanely thin. To put that in perspective, the new TV, formally called the G6, is as slim as a deck of 4 credit cards. The G6 will be available in 66 Inch and 77 Inch sizes sometime later this year. That’s not the only one though. The E6, which comes in 55 Inch and 65 Inch variants will also be equally, staggeringly slim.

When it comes to Televisions, Higher contrast matters much more than higher resolution. These are OLED and HDR enabled Televisions, which implies you can count on extravagant contrast and awesome blacks. These TVs will support Dolby Vision and HDR10 content. To further assure of display quality, LG will be using the new UHD Premium certification.

“The criteria established by this broad cross-section of the Ultra HD ecosystem enables the delivery of a revolutionary in-home experience, and the Ultra HD Premium logo gives consumers a single, identifying mark to seek out so they can purchase with confidence,” said UHD Alliance chairman Hanno Basse said in a release.

Right below the display, there is a sound-bar developed in alliance with the Harmon Kardon, which offers front facing speaker mesh. You can reposition the sound bar at the back when you mount it on your wall.

With the new set of TVs, LG further strengthens its dominance in OLED TV space. Besides G6 and E6, which are running WebOS 3.0 software, LG also introduced Curved C6 and Flat B6 set of OLED TVs at CES 2016.
