BlackBerry KEY2 outline

The KEY2 is BlackBerry’s inaugural smartphone that will carry a dual rear camera setup. The rear camera includes features like portrait mode and optical zoom. The vertically aligned 12MP + 12MP rear sensor camera combo is present along with dual-tone LED flash, dual PDAF feature, HDR and 4K video recording at 30FPS. The primary sensor offers 1.28-micron pixel quality, 79.3 degrees Field of View, and lens aperture of f/1.8, whereas the secondary sensor offers a 50-degree Field of View, 1.0-micron pixel quality, and lens aperture of f/2.6. The 8-megapixel front camera has a fixed focus and supports HD videos recording.

BlackBerry’s signature QWERTY keyboard is once again present in this phone and rests below its 4.5-inch full-HD (1080×1620 pixels) IPS LCD display that’s shielded by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. The screen has 3:2 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 433ppi, with 24-bit color depth. The keys, this time are 20% larger than what KeyOne offered, and hold up to 52 customizable shortcuts and support flick typing.

The fingerprint sensor of BlackBerry KEY2 is present within the spacebar once again. These matte finish keys incorporate shortcuts for launching apps and activate commands. Certain apps are associated with each key. The respective apps get launched when their keys are stuck.

A dedicated ‘Speed’ key is also present on the right corner of the keyboard. This works similar to a function button and can be used for faster switching between apps. Just tap on the speed key and press any letter on the keyboard to launch app mapped to that particular letter.  Also, the DTEK by BlackBerry app, this time, includes new Proactive Health check feature as well.

The power and volume buttons are present on the right side of the phone. There are no buttons on the left side of this phone.
