Qualcomm has thrown its weight behind fifth-generation network adaptation by rolling out 5G mobile platforms. After making X55 modem a compulsory buy with its flagship Snapdragon 865 mobile platform and launching its first 5G modem integrated chip in Snapdragon 765, Qualcomm has added Snapdragon 768G 5G chipset in its 5G chipset portfolio May 10.
The new mid-tier 5G chipset is a higher-binned version the Snapdragon 765G chipset. As per Qualcomm claims, the Snapdragon 768’s offers up to 20-percent CPU performance improvement over the standard Snapdragon 765G chipset. While the Adreno 620 GPU remains the same, it manages to offer 15-percent performance increase over the Snapdragon 765G. The new chipset also has support for Adreno Updateable GPU drivers and Snapdragon Elite Gaming features.
Being a 5G chip, the SD 768G comes with Snapdragon X52 integrated modem featuring both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G as well as compatibility for standalone and non-standalone 5G networks.
