Sales for cars in India seem to be going up by the day. October was the best-ever month in terms of the number of cars sold, thanks to the new GST rates and the Diwali season. However, the momentum has continued to the next month, as the numbers for November are out and this month also there is a healthy year-on-year growth of almost 20 percent. Not only four wheelers and PVs, every vehicle category except two wheelers has seen a decent growth as compared to last year November.

Overall, four wheeler sales in November jumped 19.71 percent year-on-year, as compared to November 2024. Given the impressive run of the complete market at large, some brands emerge as winners, while some emerge as losers. In this article, we will take a look at some of the biggest winners and losers in the Indian car market based on the sales data from November 2025.

SKODA REGISTERS BEST YEAR-ON-YEAR GROWTH

Skoda Auto India last month sold 5,491 units across the country. This number is much higher than the brand’s sales figures last year, registering a growth of 90 percent year-on-year. Skoda Auto India also last month clocked 5,00,000 combined sales this year for the first time in the country. Interestingly, this year is also Skoda Auto’s 25th anniversary in the Indian market.

TOYOTA MAINTAINS HEALTHY MOMENTUM

Toyota, which came in the top 5 back in October, kept the fifth spot in the next month of November. Selling a total of 33,752 units, Toyota saw a healthy jump in sales as compared to November last year, when the company clocked 25,183 units across the country. Toyota saw an YoY growth of 19.5 percent in November 2025.

MARUTI SELLS MORE CARS THAN TATA, MAHINDRA, HYUNDAI COMBINED

The top four brands in the country as of November 2025 were Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Hyundai. Among these, Maruti Suzuki is the leader by a significant margin, selling 1,70,971 units in November 2025. Not only is this a nice jump from last year’s sales of 1.41 lakh units, but it is also more than the number of units of the next three brands, combined. Combined, Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra sold 1,64,112 cars in November 2025. Here, Tata sold 57,436 cars, Mahindra Motors sold 56,336, and Hyundai shipped 50,340 units last month.

RENAULT SAW SECOND-BEST YOY GROWTH

Renault has also been making strides in the market. After Skoda’s 90.3 percent year-on-year growth, French carmaker Renault registered the second-best year on year growth, increasing by 30.3 percent as compared to November last year. This November, Renault sold a total of 3,662 cars as compared to 2,811 units last year.

HYUNDAI STAYS AT NUMBER 4

Not too long ago, Hyundai was the second-best selling brand in the country. However, in the last quarter of 2025, the brand slipped from second place, which has remained the case in November as well. Homegrown brands Tata and Mahindra have been consistently taking the second and third spot in the Indian market for the past couple of months. Hyundai has, however, registered a year-on-year growth of 4.3 percent as compared to last year November.

MG CLOCKS DROP IN SALES

MG Motors was the only brand in the top 10 list which saw a year-on-year drop in sales. As compared to the same month last year, MG witnessed a drop of 4.4 percent in its sales. Last month, MG sold 5,754 cars, which is less than the brand’s sales of 6,019 units in November 2024.
