It serves as a replacement for Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 712 that were very popular among affordable gaming phones. As the ‘G’ moniker denotes, the chipset leverages “select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features from premium-tier mobile platforms”, but Qualcomm also ushers in improvements in other areas like Audio, cameras, and display colors, dynamic range, and contrast.

The Snapdragon 720G is positioned below Snapdragon 730G and Snapdragon 732G, but the three chips are quite similar in terms of specifications and performance.

  • Qualcomm 720G is a game-centric chipset and banks on Adreno 618 GPU that delivers up to 75% performance improvement for new gaming APIs.
  • Snapdragon 720G phones will have support for Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging and USB PD.
  • Apart from gaming, the Snapdragon 720G has support for advanced entertainment features.
  • The SoC integrates X15 LTE modem, the same modem which you’d find on Snapdragon 730. The SoC supports VP9 and HEVC codecs
  • Snapdragon 720G has Qualcomm aptX HD support for 24-bit wireless audio output.
  •  The chipset supports Wi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.1
