Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 700 series of application processors for mobile phones bridge the gap between the mid-600-tier and the high-end 800-tier chipsets. The octa-core chip uses the same Kryo 360 cores as in Snapdragon 845 and is manufactured on a 10nm process. It also benefits from the DynamIQ architecture and a system cache (that was added in the Snapdragon 845 for the first time).

Interestingly, the chipset has gained even more traction after it has aged. That’s because manufacturers can now source it at a much cheaper price and use the 700-series branding for rather affordable phones.

What’s special about Snapdragon 710 mobile platform?

The Octa-core chipset uses the same cores as in Snapdragon 845. But the configuration is 2+6 instead of 4+4. It is also formed on the same 10nm fabrication process as Snapdragon 845.

  • There are 2 Cortex-A75 based performance Kryo 360 cores and 6 power Kryo 350 cores (Cortex-A55 based).
  • This is the first mid-range chip with Series 600 GPU (Adreno 616)
  • The Snapdragon 710 brings in a major improvement in gaming and power efficiency. In other words, battery consumption will be significantly lesser with intensive tasks like gaming.
  • It will also pass on up to 25 percent performance gain over Snapdragon 660 that it succeeds.
  • The chipset supports 4K HDR playback, and up to 800Mbps download speeds
  • It has the same X20 LTE Modem as Snapdragon 845.
