We are seeing all kinds of laptop-crazy at the Consumer Electronics Show this year. Makers are getting bolder about their display implementation, are upgrading their flagship models with more powerful hardware, and are also trying to distinguish their products with a few peculiar features.

To help you efficiently sift through the deluge of CES 2020 Laptop coverage, we have listed all that’s interesting in one place. Let’s get started.

1. Samsung Galaxy Chromebook

A $1000 starting price is way too much for a Chromebook, but the premium Galaxy Chromebook will make you consider long and hard before you skip it. The list of features includes a 13.3-inch 4K AMOLED display that rotates 360-degrees, super-slim Aluminum casing, a fingerprint sensor for unlocking, two USB-C ports, an included S Pen stylus that docks in a silo.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is powered by 10th generation Intel Core processor and offers usual Chromebook perks like 8 hours of battery mileage and negligible boot time.

2. Samsung Galaxy Book Flex Alpha

Right before CES 2020, Samsung also announced Galaxy Book Flex Alpha, a more economical version of Galaxy Book Flex launched late last year.

The convertible laptop weighs just 1.19 Kgs and comes with a rotating 13.3-inch Full HD QLED screen with slim bezels. The Galaxy Book Flex Alpha has S Pen support (sold separately) and is powered by 10th gen Intel Core processors paired with 8GB/12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB SSD storage.

3. Dell Concept Ori and Concept Duet Laptops

Dell presented two fascinating concept laptops at CES 2020 – Ori and Duet. The Dell Concept Orbi is a true foldable laptop similar to Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold and the Concept duet has screens on either side of the hinge, just like the Microsoft Surface Neo.

The Concept Duet is accompanied by a keyboard accessory that can be placed on top of any of its two 13.4-inch screen for a more traditional laptop experience. Dell is tight-lipped about the specs on these futuristic concepts, or when (if ever) these would evolve into real products on retail shelves.

4. Dell XPS 13

Keeping aside the concepts, the Dell XPS 13 is the real deal from Dell this year. The flagship laptop has been upgraded with a bigger 13.4-inch display with even narrower bezels and now comes in the latest 10th generation Core i3, i5, and i7 processor options. RAM and SSD options top at 32GB and 2TB, respectively.

There are also three display options – Full HD, Full HD touch display, and 4k Touch with HDR400. As for the price, the new Dell XPS 13 starts at $999.

5. MSI GE66 Raider and GS66 Stealth

MSI brought a new version of its flagship Raider line of gaming laptops to CES 2020. The Raider GE66 was also accompanied by Stealth GS66 and both of these laptops feature 300Hz display, Intel’s latest H-series processors with up to 32GB RAM and latest Nvidia graphics, and house beefy 99.9Whr batteries.

The Raider has more ports and is an outright flashy gaming laptop. The stealth has comparatively understated looks and is relatively slimmer.

6. Asus Zephyrus G14

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is the smallest gaming laptop Asus has made and it conceals a rather interesting dot-matrix in the lid that can be used to show GIFS, time, etc. The laptop comes in two 14-inch display choices – Full HD resolution @120Hz or QHD@60Hz.

The Zephyrus G14 is slim and portable for a gaming machine, yet promises 10.5 hours of battery mileage. It also employs the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 Processors, which were also announced at CES 2020, along with up to Nvidia RTX2060 Graphics.

Asus also refined the design of the new Zenbook Duo making it significantly slimmer and lighter but at the cost of reduced performance. The company will also be bringing in updated Vivobook S-series laptops in 13.3-inch, 14-inch, and 15.6-inch sizes with 10th gen Comet Lake and Ice lake processors in Q1 2020.

7. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold

True to its name, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, is a foldable laptop that you’d be able to buy this year, but for an exorbitant price of $2499.

LG Display-manufactured foldable OLED panel is what obviously takes center stage. The ThinkPad X1 aims to deliver a larger screen in a more portable format. The X1 Fold comes with a bundled wireless keyboard that magnetically snaps on one half and thus transforms the tablet into a mini laptop. Lenovo is yet to reveal the core specifications powering the experience, but it did claim 11 hours of battery backup.

8. Lenovo Yoga 5G

The new Yoga 5 is perhaps a more pragmatic upgrade from Lenovo this year. Or maybe not. This is the first ARM-powered Windows laptop that also supports 5G connectivity.

The Yoga 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx paired with X55 5G modem and will retail for a starting price of $1499. The laptop will include a 14-inch Full HD IPS LCD display, 8GB RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.

Apart from ThinkPad X1 Fold and Yoga 5G, Lenovo also introduced upgraded Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 that comes in both Intel and AMD Ryzen 4000 options and offers features like 14-inch full HD display, up to 1TB SSD, and 8GB RAM within in a 14.9mm slim casing.

9. HP Elite Dragonfly G2

HP upgraded its best business laptop, Elite Dragonfly, to include the latest processor, more internal storage and a built-in Tile tracker.

The Elite Dragonfly G2 weighs less than 1KG and will also retail in a 5G wireless option. HP didn’t announce the price, but going by the $1650 price of the current version, this one would surely cost a pretty penny.

10. Acer Spin 3 and Spin 5

Acer has updated its Spin 3 and Spin 5 laptops with 10th gen ice lake CPUs. These laptops have rotatable displays and come with stylus support.

Spin 5 is the more expensive of the two. It has a smaller but sharper 13.5-inch 2256 x 1504 IPS LCD display and comes with up to Core i7 with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB NVMe storage.

The Spin 3, on the other hand, has a 14-inch 1080p screen and is limited in choice up to Core i5. Both of these laptops have integrated graphics and are meant for moderate workloads.
