We’ve heard cases of online shoppers receiving the wrong items in their packages. Some have even reported getting a soap bar or empty boxes with no products inside. However, a recent viral video of a snake inside an Amazon package shows a spectacled Cobra stuck inside an Amazon package, which was handed over to a couple in Bengaluru.
The Couple Ordered A Microsoft Xbox Controller
The couple ordered an Xbox controller from Amazon (on June 16). Upon receiving the package two days later, the wife discovered a live snake in the package. Kudos to the lady for not panicking and recording a video of the incident. In a post through her X (Twitter) account, she wrote, “Ordered an Xbox controller from @amazonIN and received a free snake with it!”
Here’s How Amazon Responded To The Incident

Several media reports also suggest that Amazon’s customer support team put the couple on hold. Hence, they had to handle the situation all by themselves in the middle of the night. Replying to Tanvi’s post on the microblogging platform, Amazon mentioned “We’re sorry to know about the inconvenience you’ve had with the Amazon order. We’d like to have this checked.” However, netizens are calling out Amazon for a generic response.
The Couple Resides On Sarjapur Road
As highlighted by an X user, the couple resides on Sarjapur Road. Fortunately, the snake was stuck to the packaging tape, which prevented any harm while unboxing. Although Amazon initiated the refund for the item’s value, the company isn’t acknowledging how dangerous the situation was and how it could have gone differently. This raises some questions about the company’s packaging practices.
According to a report by the Economic Times, the Cobra was safely captured and released in a safe area. However, the way it ended up being packaged in an Amazon parcel is beyond our comprehension. X users have also reacted to the incident with humorous and criticizing remarks. Have a look at some of the tweets below.
