Cupertino-based global giant Apple has announced its latest version of the macOS, named as High Sierra, for its Mac range of laptops at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last night.

As the company’s WWDC is inclined towards the software scheme of things, the update seeks to improve upon the Safari browser and bring in some improvement in the mail application, too.

Coming to Safari, one of the more economical browsers present currently (although Apple deems it to be one the fastest one in the market), it has been allocated a few extra features against unwanted advertisements, a bid aimed at rivaling fierce competitor Google who did something similar not too long ago.

With the High Sierra, Safari would now be able to block the autoplay videos automatically on the websites, and come in replete with an ‘Intelligent Tracking Prevention’ technology to block ad trackers across websites. This tech will be based on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The other thing that is getting an upgrade is the mail app on the macOS. Among the said improvements are the availability of a multi-window feature during mail composition and about 35% less disk space.

The Photo app too sees an upgrade and will now let you search for photographs using names through the all-new sidebar, with the photo tags being saved across all Apple devices and linked to your Apple ID.

Other than that, HFS is the new default file system, video system has been changed to H.265/HVEC, Final Cut Pro X has been optimized and Stream VR SDK will also be coming.

Regarding the release, the High Sierra developers beta version will be out today, while the public beta version is expected to hit the stalls by the end of the month.
