Apple is planning to shift around 25% of its total production to India by 2025. An analyst from JP Morgan said that the step is being taken by Apple in order to expand its supply chain. Talking about the current scenario, Apple is producing some of its iPhone models in India like the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 14. Right now, the supply chain of Apple is currently based in China. However, the brand has already started making efforts in order to move from China and start production somewhere else.

The Analysts from JP Morgan also believe that by the end of 2022, around 5% of iPhone 14 production will be shifted to India. Apart from that, a considerable shift is expected in the upcoming three years. The 25% production that will be shifted to India includes AirPods, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch too. Some of the major Apple suppliers, Foxconn, has made a decent investment in the supply chain infrastructure, factories, and training in India.

What more is in it?

It is expected that Apple will start the production of iPhone 14 variants in India in the coming weeks. As of now, only a limited amount of information is available regarding future strategies of Apple. We will surely update you as soon as any development is seen in the same.

As for the history, Apple has been producing iPhones in India since the year 2017. The same started at the time when iPhone SE was launched and the units were produced in India for the local market. After that, the production of the iPhone 13 also took place in India in April 2022. It is also in the air that local business tycoons are also eyeing to crack a deal in this scenario. Tata Group has been in talks with Winston for establishing a joint venture to assemble iPhones.
