Apple WWDC 2019 unfolded lots of software updates comprising the iOS 13, MacOS 10.15, WatchOS 6, tvOS 13 iPadOS and more. On stage, the Cupertino-based company took the veil off two hardware products too. We got the new Mac Pro, a spec bump to the 2013 predecessor. It packed up to 1.5TB RAM, 4TB SSD storage, 28-core Intel Xeon W processor, 1400W power supply and more. Apple also announced a new Pro Display XDR monitor as well.

The new Mac Pro comes in a stainless steel case with two handles up top and a mesh front panel. There is an additional concealed handle that if pulled takes the case off the actual gear inside. For its porous looks, its nick-named as a cheese grater.

However, the cream of the Mac Pro is its internal specs. This is an upgradeable PC and let’s cover the top-end variant.  It is powered by an 8-core 3.5GHz Intel Xeon processor upgradeable up to 28 cores. It bears one AMD Radeon Pro 850X GPU and could be added to 4 AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo graphics cards.

Coming to ports and slots, it is equipped with 12 DIMM slots which could be packed up to 1.5TB of RAM. This is coupled with up to 4TB (2x2TB) SSD storage. Inside, you also get 8 user-accessible PCIe slots.

On the surface, Mac Pro ships with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB-A ports, a much appreciated 3.5mm audio jack at the back, two more Thunderbolt 3 ports up top alongside a power button and a LED indicator.
