Amazfit has upgraded its GTS and GTR series watches to the second generation. The Amazfit GTS 2 and GTR 2 have similar features and are primarily differentiated by their respective square and circular dials. (Amazfit GTS 2 Review हिंदी में पढ़िए)
For consumers who prefer square/rectangular screens, the GTS 2 doesn’t have much competition in the 10k to 15k segment, except maybe the Oppo Watch 41mm which is a WearOS watch. We have been pushing it to its limit for a while now and in our Amazfit GTS 2 review, we will be discussing where it excels and where it disappoints.

Amazfit GTS 2 Review: Design and Display
GTS 2 has a 42mm square dial and it’s extremely slim and light. Consumers have very different preferences when it comes to watches. This is not a sporty watch, but it looks graceful and appealing. It’s the kind that you may choose to flaunt or to wear and forget about.
GTS 2 is available in three elegant color options with removable 20 mm buckle straps. We could get a satisfactory fit and didn’t face any irritation while wearing the watch for long durations and during workouts.
The watch has only one button but it registers both single press and double press actions, of which the latter can be customized for any function of your choice. By default, double-press is mapped to workout modes.
We quite liked the collection of Watch faces Amazfit has and the sharp AMOLED display further uplifts the experience. Auto-brightness works well and we had no issues using the watch outdoors under direct sunlight.
A 3D gorilla glass shields the display and there is a good quality oleophobic coating that resists smudges. The GTS 2 is also 5ATM dust and water-resistant.

Amazfit GTS 2 Review: Performance, Calling, and Other features
The Amazefit GTS 2 has all the features you’d expect in a wearable running proprietary software. The UI is very appealing and thoughtfully designed. It is also very descriptive and has that required depth and customization options that lend an impression that there’s a lot going on here and perhaps that’s what essentially differentiates a fitness band from a basic smartwatch.
At the same time, Amazfit has tried to cram in as many features as possible, to the extent that the software may feel overwhelming. For instance, there are also voice commands that don’t work well.
We like that the -1 home screen lets you scroll through useful widgets, the always-on watch faces have multiple colors and include useful information like steps counts and date, music controls work efficiently, the quick settings panel is neat, and the double-press action can be mapped to Find my phone.
There are also some minor quirks like the scrolling list view doesn’t work as efficiently as a proper app drawer, the stopwatch is labeled as Timer, and many useful watch settings are listed under the “Enjoy” tab in the Zepp app – which is again very descriptive.
We don’t have any complaints regarding performance. UI transitions and features like Raise to wake aren’t particularly snappy but they aren’t laggy either.
The watch supports calling. You can not access your call logs or initiate calls from the watch but you can attend incoming calls. The speaker is tiny, but we are glad that Amazfit retained it in spite of the slim and light profile. Our GTS 2 didn’t auto-reconnect to our Samsung phone for calls after we used wireless earphones, so we had to manually reconnect the watch for calls on many occasions.

Amazfit GTS 2 Review: Fitness and Sleep Tracking
Amazfit GTS 2 is remarkably good at fitness tracking. As always, we tested it alongside a few other trusted wearables with 10 laps of a 0.5km circuit. The step counts and distance stats were accurate even when we changed pace or mixed jogging with walking.
The watch gave us vibration alerts for every kilometer and we also got useful or motivation prompts like 30 minutes of fat burn heart rate.
GPS tracking and route mapping are also excellent – which is not something we get to say very often. The app shows elaborate stats for workouts and these include speed breakups per km, heart-rate charts for the entire workout duration, cadence, and more. There is also the option to enter data like ECG, SPo2, body measurements manually.
The watch has 12 workout modes, and all popular options are present. There is also ‘PAI’ which is a personal physiological activity indicator that takes into account heart rate, daily activity intensity and more and algorithmically reduces it to a score. According to a study it is based on, you need to keep your PAI above 100 to reduce chances of cardiovascular disease.
Since the GTS 2 is slim and light, we didn’t mind wearing it to bed. Sleep tracking and deep sleep stats seemed accurate but more than once the watch counted pre-sleep time when I was lying on my couch watching TV as sleep.

Amazfit GTS 2 Review: Battery Backup
We are getting around 3 days with the display set to Always-on mode, notifications synced, and around 1 hour of daily workout tracking. That’s again to be expected considering the slim profile and 246mAh battery capacity. We didn’t take many calls on the watch and if you do, that should further dent the mileage.
Coming from a WearOS watch, we found the battery backup to be manageable but it’s certainly below average when compared to competing options. You can of course extend usage by a few more days by turning off the always-on mode. The bundled magnetic charging dock clings firmly and takes around 2.5 hours for a full charge.
Amazfit GTS 2 Review Verdict: Should you buy it?
We quite enjoyed wearing the Amazfit GTS 2 during this review. The watch is not backed by a proper OS ecosystem like the Wear OS, but Amazfit has tried to add as many features as possible without making the experience garish. The GTS 2 looks premium, is extremely comfortable to wear, offers refined software, and it’s a particularly easy recommendation for consumers who value fitness tracking.
