Lenovo has recently gone public with its decision to replace Motorola Branding with Lenovo in the upcoming Moto series phones. And now, the company has up the ante by drawing a proper roadmap for this new ‘‘Moto by Lenovo’ sub-brand. Lenovo Group’s Senior Vice President and head of Mobile division, Chen Xudong revealed company’s strategy to embed fingerprint sensor in all new Moto Series phones which will launch in 2016.

In an interview with a publication in China, Xudong expressed his surprise on Motorola missing out on Fingerprint sensor across its portfolio in 2015. All major smartphone manufacturer has hopped on to this new technology bandwagon, including Motorola’s parent organization Lenovo. Motorola seems to be a rare brand to not test waters with its own fingerprint sensor. Lenovo has so far integrated fingerprint scanner in a number of Vibe series phones including Vibe P1, Vibe S1 and Vibe K4 Note.

Recent market rumors also indicates that Lenovo is planning to get a fingerprint sensor onboard in the next generation Moto X smartphone. If rumors are to be believed, the fourth generation Moto X will feature fingerprint sensor along with metal frame design, which will also have a heat pipe for passive cooling.

Xudong also went on to confirm end of a road for Moto G and Moto E. He revealed that these two mid-range phones will be merged into Lenovo budget series ‘Vibe’ while Moto Series will feature only premium budget phones. He expressed his regret for discontinuing Moto G series as it is one of the well-lauded phones from Motorola camp.
