8 Best Vivo V9 Features That Make It Exciting

2

A good phone is not about great specs. Hardware used definitely has a major part to play, but at the end of the day, how you interact with your phone and how excited you are every time you pick it up are things that matter a lot more.

The Vivo V9, for instance, has a slew of features that help it stand out. These are big and small attributes that you might not notice on the spec-sheet but they do enhance the overall experience in a meaningful way. So, without further ado, let’s enlist features that embellish Vivo V9 experience for the better.

1. Killer Looks

The Vivo V9 casts its first spell with its scintillating design which is definitely better than the competition available in the same budget. The biggest attraction is perhaps the stunning fascia with 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. But what’s even better is its 3D curved glass-finish back that ensures it sits well in hands and is extremely comfortable to operate.

2. Immersive Display

The gorgeous 19:9 full HD+ display with a trendy notch looks stunning from all corners. Be it watching movies or just scrolling through web pages – everything just feels good on the screen. The display has 2.5D curved Gorilla glass that not only keeps scratches at bay but ensures immersive viewing.

3. Dual Rear Cameras

The Vivo V9 packs two camera sensors on the rear panel. While the primary sensor has a 16-megapixel sensor and captures all scenic beauty, the 5-megapixel secondary sensor is used for depth sensing and to precisely differentiate objects in the foreground from those in the background.

Apart from portrait mode, the camera has a Professional mode for stills and a 4K video option for those who love to record and store memories for life.

4. Selfies and AR sticker

AR stickers are fun

The 24-megapixel selfie camera placed within the notch is one of the most impressive features of the Vivo V9. The selfie camera is powered by AI smartness which evaluates each shot and perfects it seamlessly. Vivo takes it a step further by introducing similar beautification feature for live videos and video calls on various apps.

You can shoot awesome selfies both indoors and outdoor. Besides, features like animated AR stickers and selfie lighting are a lot of fun to play with.

5. Android 8.1 Oreo

In an era where most OEMs are still going with Android 7.0 Nougat (and a rare few with Android 8.0 Oreo), Vivo V9 runs the latest Android 8.1 software out of the box. This should ensure that your phone doesn’t feel dated through its lifecycle. The phone also has project treble support which could mean faster updates moving forward.

The Android 8.1 Oreo brings several background enhancements over Android 8.0 Oreo and adds a few new features too like battery indicator for Bluetooth devices, safer browsing, and better control over app notifications. Another interesting bonus feature is that Netflix works in picture-in-picture mode only on Android 8.1 Oreo and not on Android 8.0 Oreo.  The UI on top is Funtouch OS 4.0 further garnishes with several interesting optimizations and enhancements.

6. Fast Face Unlock

Vivo V9 has an AI-powered Face Unlock and it’s extremely fast. It also works just fine on a bad hair day or when you grow a stubble. The Face Unlock in Vivo V9 uses the front 24MP camera and is reasonably secure (not so much as its fast fingerprint sensor, though).

7. Navigation gestures

To make full use of the immersive full-screen display, the Vivo V9 also adds iPhone X like navigation gestures. These are quite intuitive and natural and work remarkably well. A simple Swipe up takes you to the home screen, swipe up and hold gives you recent apps, swipe up from left-bottom works as ‘Back’, and swipe up from right-bottom gives you control centre and quick settings.

Besides the navigation gestures, the UI also lists smart motion gestures that include features like ‘Shake to turn on flashlight’, ‘tilt to zoom’, etc.

8. Smart Split Screen

Vivo V9 lets you multitask like a boss. You can easily access the option to split screen by sliding up the control centre. Then there is picture-in-picture mode that lets you minimize supported apps to a small floating window just by tapping the home button.

Also, when you are watching a video and receive a message, the App icon will pop up, and if you wish to check it out, you can simply tap on it to open the messaging app in one half of the screen without leaving the video that you are watching.
