The new HTC One A9s was unveiled at IFA, Berlin last night and is all set to hit stores this fall. As the name implies, it is the successor to critically acclaimed HTC One A9, which marked a shift in HTC’s mid-range design strategy.

The One A9s is a trimmed down variant of One A9, which should be available for a more affordable price.

Talking about the downgrades, the handset flaunts a 5-inch 720 Pixel Super LCD display and skips the full HD resolution.

The HTC One A9s includes a ‘diamond cut home button’ and a metal body and looks as premium as the One A9 on the outside.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 617 SoC has been replaced by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor paired with Mali-T860MP2 GPU, 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB of inbuilt storage. On the camera front, the rear 13 MP camera features a marginally narrow aperture lens (f/2.2) (compared to the (f/2.0) aperture lens of A9).

Probably, HTC believes that a more affordable A9 variant will find more takers.

The handset will be released in the month of October, but the exact dates have not been declared as of now.
