10 Mobile Phones Expected to Launch In May 2018

As we reported at the start of April, it was an action-packed month with several brands coming out with exciting releases. The new mobile launch announcements are likely to further pick pace in the month of May as most of the popular brands are already lining up to launch their new mobile phones in India and globally. To let you know what is in the pipeline for May 2018, we have created a list of best smart phones that are expected to launch this month. Here we go:

10 Mobile Phones To Launch In May 2018

1. OnePlus 6

OnePlus 6 back panel

The ‘Never Settle’ brand seems to be enjoying high spirits and has slated OnePlus 6 India launch on May 17, a day after global launch in London. OnePlus has been teasing the OnePlus for some time now and has already revealed features like 19:9 display with a notch, glass design, water-resistant body, and flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset.

That’s not all, OnePlus has also teamed with Disney India to launch a Marvel’s Avenger Infinity War themed OnePlus 6. The Avengers edition is likely to feature superheroes inspired themes and wallpaper and 256GB storage. The OnePlus 6 is to retail on Amazon India and OnePlus stores starting from May 21.

2. Moto G6 Family

Recently, Lenovo announced its Moto G6 family in Brazil. The Moto G6 Series includes – the Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, and Moto G6 Play. Of these, the Moto G6 Plus takes the top place on the podium. It boasts of a 6-inch 18:9 screen with FHD+ resolution and is powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon 630 chipset. The phone comes with 4GB/6GB RAM and 3200mAh battery. It packs dual rear cameras and an 8MP selfie camera. Both Face Unlock and fingerprint sensor are present in the device.

The Moto G6, on the other hand, rocks slightly smaller a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display, and similar 3D glass back design. The G6 is driven by Snapdragon 450 chipset which is coupled with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage. The camera modules remain the same as the Moto G6 Plus. Moto G6 Family is likely to debut in India in the month of May.

3. Xiaomi Mi A2

Xiaomi has finally launched its much-awaited Mi 6X in China fueling the expectations regarding the launch of its alleged Android One version, Mi A2, in India.

We expect Xiaomi to announce Mi A2 in India soon. It is expected to flaunt a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Just as Mi 6X, it will rock Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. As per Xiaomi, the biggest highlight of Mi 6X (or Mi A2) is a dual camera setup of 20MP + 12MP at the back and a 20MP selfie camera on the front. The Android One based phone is expected to come with a 3,010mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.

Xiaomi is also expected to launch another more affordable Android One phone alongside.

4. Honor 10

Huawei’s Honor 10, after its China launch, was spotted on the Indian BIS certification site suggesting its imminent launch in India. The phone seems to have taken design inspiration from – the Honor P20 Series which was launched recently. The Honor 10 flaunts a 5.84-inch LCD display which comes with a notch. The display resolution is Full HD+ (2,280 x 1,080-pixel).

Huawei’s sub-brand once again depends on its own Kirin 970 chipset mated to 6GB RAM. It is likely to come in two storage variants – 64GB and 128GB. The phone features a 24MP + 16MP dual rear camera setup and a 24MP front camera up front. It is also expected to make India debut on May 22 and is likely to be available on Flipkart.

5. LG G7 ThinQ

The South Korea conglomerate LG is all set to globally launch its first flagship of the year – the LG G7 ThinQ. It is well-established fact that the G7 ThinQ will be the first LG branded phone to feature a display notch. As per the blog post by LG, the G7 ThinQ comes with ‘Boombox Speaker featuring DTS:X 3D Surround Sound technology. This will allow the LG G7 ThinQ to deliver audio louder than 6db.

In terms of other features, the LG G7 ThinQ comes with a 6.1-inch 2K+ LCD display which can go up to 1,000 Nits bright. The phone is said to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and runs on Android Oreo-based AI enabled software.

6. Samsung Galaxy A6/A6+

If reports are anything to go by, the Samsung Galaxy A6+ will be touching Indian soil soon. The phone has been in the news for a while now and it is expected to be announced in May, 2018. The Galaxy A6 is likely to come with a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Samsung is said to offer it with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset enthralling under the hood alongside 4GB RAM.

The Galaxy A6+ is expected to come with a dual camera set up on the rear and a 24-megapixel selfie camera. It will be aided by a 3500mAh battery. The smartphone will run Android 8.1-based  Samsung Experience 9.0 skin.

7. Coolpad Note 6

After burning there hands and pockets in an unsuccessful marriage with LeEco, Coolpad is once again hoping to redeem its lost ground in India with the launch of its Note 6.  The selfie centric phone comes with a dual selfie cameras (8MP+5MP) and 13MP rear camera. Having said that, not much is known about the phone at this moment. The Note 6 comes with Snapdragon 435 chipset with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage option. Coolpad has priced it at Rs 8,999/Rs 9,999 in India.

8. Nokia X /Nokia N8 (2018)

No one seems to untouched with cutout displays and HMD Global’s Nokia is also all set to launch its display notch phone – the Nokia X. The company is also said to be working on Nokia N8 (2018) and both these phones could launch on May 16 in China.

Not much is known about the Nokia N8 (2018) but there have been several rumors about Nokia X making headlines. According to those rumors, the upcoming Nokia X (or Nokia X6) is likely to flaunt a 5.8-inch full-HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It could be based on either Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 or a MediaTek Helio P60 SoC, coupled with 4GB/ 6GB RAM and 64GB/ 128GB inbuilt storage. On optics front, expect a dual camera setup with a 12-megapixel Carl Zeiss lens. The Nokia X will be part of Android One project and will come out running on latest Android Oreo update.

9. RealMe 1 (by Oppo Amazon)

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is all set to launch its own online-only sub-brand RealMe to counter Xiaomi. To do so, Oppo has formed a partnership with the Amazon India, something similar to what Asus has done with Flipkart. This means the RealMe phones will be Amazon exclusive. The first smartphone to be launched under this new brand will be RealMe 1 which will be launched on May 15.

At present not much is known about the upcoming phone but if teaser page is anything to go by, the RealMe 1 design will be inspired from Oppo F7 unique Dimond Cut back. With this new phone, the new brand will be targeting Youth and will be focusing on style and power.

10. Mobiistar sub 10K phone

Vietnam based company Mobiistar is likely to enter Indian smartphone market in the month of May. The upcoming brand is expected to focus on the budget segment and is likely to launch its first phone under Rs 10,000.
