The Samsung Galaxy Tab does exceptionally almost all the tasks its meant to do. But for the flawed gallery and the high-latency screen with sub-par viewing angles we are struggling to find an aspect of its performance to criticize. None of those are deal-breakers really.
Of course the iPad strikes back with a slightly higher-res screen with better viewing angles, a much better gallery and a slightly longer battery life but the over-reliance on iTunes brings us back to where we started. read more →

Samsung's very first tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, is surely a device with its own philosophy. It is very compact and easy to carry around, and due to a healthy-sized 7" display, it is a great offering for casual users. It is still quite versatile though, being equipped with a lot of connectivity options and also two cameras for occasional shots and video calls. In the meantime, its design is solid and contemporary, although executed mainly out of plastic. read more →
- Compact size
- High resolution screen
- Lots of connectivity options
- 3.2MP main camera and a secondary one for video chat
- Flash Player 10.1 support
- Predominantly plastic construction
- The loudspeaker could sound better
- Lagging browser, especially when there's Flash content
- Not enough quality apps available
The weight and feel of the tablet might throw you for a loop at first. Why? It’s actually a tad heavier than you’d imagine (though not too heavy at all). The plastic shell in the back of the device feels very inexpensive and makes the entire device feel a bit… hollow. Thus our conflicted feeling on whether the device felt heavy and expensive, or hollow and inexpensive. The white plastic back is extremely glossy, and while you can’t really see fingerprints much, the tablet feels overly slippery to us. read more →
The Galaxy Tab is a gamble, pure and simple. For Samsung it has taken a gamble to try and beat its rivals to market with an iPad competitor that is currently a big phone not a tablet. For users it is a gamble knowing real Android 3.0 tablets should arrive in the next few months. On paper the Galaxy Tab represents a smaller, neater and more open alternative to iPad (itself a flawed device) and we wish it was. read more →

While the Galaxy Tab isn't cheap, it delivers the Android experience on a big screen without being too large or heavy, and offers a great experience for lovers of multimedia.
Early adopters chasing the best Android tablet this Christmas should look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Its performance is on par with the best of this year's smartphones, and the size and weight suit a device you intend to lug around with you each day. read more →
