HTC Flyer review Pen pal

Thats that then. One of the most unique Android tablets out there - the HTC Flyer. It does well - even without the all-important dual-core processor and cream-of-the-crop Honeycomb OS.

The Flyer will cost you about 650 euro (~$925) for the 3G-capable version and 500 euro (~$712) for the Wi-Fi only version. It's not cheap at all  but were used to seeing HTC charge a premium for build quality and customizations. read more →

HTC Flyer Review

In reality, we’re not all that concerned that HTC decided to move forward with having Gingerbread on board with the Flyer as opposed to Honeycomb – mainly because they did a fantastic job with Sense running on top of it. Undeniably, we love how they carefully thought out the interface and its many core apps to make the experience ideal for tablet usage. Moreover, we don’t miss the fact that its sporting a single-core processor, rather than the usual dual-core one that's becoming more prevalent – albeit, it’s worth noting that it’s clocked in higher than most others. read more →

HTC Flyer review

I love the HTC Flyer’s sturdy build, but I’m not a fan of the extra heft it adds to the device. People are split on tablet sizes, but I like the Flyer because that size delivers an excellent web browsing experience, eBook reading, and much more without having to fumble with the tablet too much. The Flyer offers a superior experience to the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, but it’s also more expensive. read more →

HTC Flyer review

There are some things we love about the Flyer: the high-quality build, the size, performance and HTC Sense is slick and efficient. Sure Sense lacks features of Honeycomb, but it’s arguably simpler to navigate. The Flyer is not a multimedia powerhouse, but if you’re main use of the tablet is browsing, playing back video and making notes, the 1.5Ghz processor will be more than adequate. Couple this with the portability of the seven-inch screen and for many people the Flyer will be the perfect tablet.

What makes the Flyer unique is its pen, which with practice certainly adds a new dimension to tablet use. read more →

  • HTC Sense is intuitive
  • Portable size
  • It has a pen

HTC Flyer

HTC shrugs off Google's Honeycomb OS and opts for its own Sense user interface in the Flyer, a risky approach to the booming tablet market, but one that could certainly pay off.

HTC's commitment to its Sense user experience defines the 7-inch Flyer and only time will tell if this commitment is a gamble that pays off or one that dooms the Flyer. The Flyer is also the smallest and lightest of the tablets we've seen from major manufacturers, a fact we believe will be a positive for HTC when tablet shoppers weigh up their options in their local Vodafone store when the device is released mid-year. read more →
