Traditional sliders are a dying breed so having one of them for a few days made for a refreshing change. And a Walkman at that someone at Sony Ericsson must have been feeling nostalgic.
Its difficult to pin down the defining feature of the Zylo. It has a 3-megapixel camera capable of VGA video recording, a nice music player, as well as solid social networking integration and fast data. There are plenty of apps and games and you also get a large 2.6 display for good measure. read more →

When we first started exploring the Sony Ericsson Zylo, and realised the massive shortcomings of its FLAC support, we were expecting the theme of this review to be 'scathing'.
Ultimately, that's not the case. Disappointing though the lossless music situation may be, it still plays music – a whole bunch of audio file types, actually. It works, even if it wasn't thought through properly. read more →
- Good media functions
- Excellent widgets
- Nice messaging options
- FLAC support
- Internet features
- Poor camera
- Proprietary headphone port
- No microSD card
- Disappointing sound output
- No USB cable
The Zylo is a well-made music handset in a traditional slider form factor we've come to expect from Sony Ericsson. It is pretty average in terms of features, but carries all its phone and messaging duties with dignity, and has some audio perks to justify the Walkman brand. The phone provides a good loudspeaker and headset, and even plays songs encoded in the lossless quality FLAC format, so we can easily label the time spent with it as a true Walkman experience. read more →
- Plays FLAC music files
- Excellent loudspeaker
- Short battery life
- No standard audio jack
- Quiet ear speaker
The Zylo is not a handset that is breaking any new ground as its design and user interface aren't really any different to what we’ve seen previously on Sony Ericsson Walkman phones. However, if you’re looking for a traditional handset that’s easy to use, relatively inexpensive and has most of the basics covered, it’s not a bad option. That said, the lack of a standard headphone jack or even an adaptors cable to allow you to use your own headphone still jars with us, especially as the phone comes with Walkman branding. read more →
