Small phones are special, no doubt about that. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 might just be too special to have mass appeal but we dont think its what this phone is trying to do. The X10 mini is an experiment, which works out well.
The user-interface has been well optimized for the little (in touchscreen terms that is) display and while this has involved some functionality sacrifices, they arent too bad. read more →
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
- 3G with HSPA
- Customized Android OS v1.6 with Timescape UI
- Ultra compact body
- 2.55" capacitive touchscreen of QVGA resolution
- QVGA resolution doesnt do Android graphics justice and limits the number of compatible apps
- Battery not user replaceable
- Limited Android homescreen functionality
- No smart dialing
- Typing long messages is very hard on the small screen
You simply don't expect a phone this small and affordable to be as fast and slick as it is. While the full-size Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 was an undeniably great piece of hardware, the laggy interface rather ruined the experience – not so here.
The custom user interface enhancements are genuine improvements on the Android base, all helping to get the most from the Mini's tiny screen. read more →
- Super-fast, lag-free operation
- Best battery life of any Android phone
- UI customisations suit the tiny form
- Runs demanding apps with ease
- A bit outdated
- Limited to T9 text entry
- No physical D-pad
- Timescape is rather a waste of time
You may have felt it already that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini left us with some very positive impressions - it is snappy, functional and cute as a clumsy puppy. As the creator of the minimalistic Android handsets market niche, its maker can only be praised about execution. The company has shown how Google's mobile OS can be painted over for a smooth and flawless user experience even on a small canvas. read more →

- Small screen is not great for browsing
The Xperia X10 Mini packs a lot of features into a small design. The compact touch screen won't be for everyone, but it mostly satisfies as an Android phone. read more →
- The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini has a user-friendly interface and a solid feature set for such a small phone.
- The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini lacks camera editing options and its small size can hamper usability. The volume level is rather low.
The Xperia X10 mini runs on a smartphone operating system but is actually more suited for people who want a simple yet robust device that's also a little versatile when it comes to looks. The Xperia X10 mini will probably end up as one of the most easily misplaced phones in our book. Despite its small footprint, the mini doesn't compromise on usability. The interface is fast and the fonts suit the tiny display. read more →
