We guess we made a point already that the Xperia arc S is not an upgrade. At least not in the sense of making the previous version redundant. So what's it then? A quiet coup at the top? Nah, we doubt it. You can't do that to a phone like the Xperia Arc. In fact, someone at Sony Ericsson must still love the original Arc. Love it the way Samsung love their Galaxy S.
The important thing anyway is that the arc S brings a welcome speed boost. read more →
- Quad-band GSM /GPRS/EDGE support
- 3G with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA
- 4.2" 16M-color capacitive LED-backlit LCD touchscreen of FWVGA resolution (480 x 854 pixels) with Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine
- Android OS v2.3.4 Gingerbread
- 1.4 GHz Scorpion CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset
- The competition has dual-core CPUs and better GPUs
- Display has poor viewing angles
- No front-facing camera
- No smart dialing
- Non hot-swappable microSD card slot
The Xperia Arc S is a minor technical upgrade to the original Arc. Although the hardware here is still sound, there are better phones available if you're willing to pay just a little more. read more →
- Distinctive design
- High-quality still camera
- 4.2-inch screen is a TFT wonder
- New features are niche, bordering on gimmicky
- Not enough here to recommend itself above the original Arc
The Sony Xperia Arc S is a lightweight, unlocked Android phone that still manages to pack an expansive screen and powerful multimedia features. read more →
- Attractive design
- Beautiful screen
- Responsive performance
- Sony's UI overlay adds rather than detracts.
- Middling processor
- Poor battery life
- Must pull the battery to swap memory cards.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is a slim, bright, powerful Android smartphone that shows off the mobile operating system to its very best. The screen is fantastic and the processor and memory perform well enough to keep the Android experience running smoothly and quickly.
However, the hardware upgrade in here isn't really noticeable at all. We never felt the original Xperia Arc was in any way underpowered or slow, so the 1.4GHz upgrade seems a bit pointless. read more →
- Fantastic big, bright, sharp screen
- Great user interface customisations
- Fast and pretty good stills camera
- Very thin and light
- Good battery life for its size
- Blotchy 720p video results
- Mismatched widgets
- Still only five home screens
- Tiny power button and camera buttons
In our review of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc we said the company has nailed it, but now with the Xperia arc S, we’d say we have a minor upgrade on our hands. The thin arched profile that makes you forget you are holding a gadget with a huge 4.2” screen stays, as well as the light weight and sleek and classy look. The Timescape UI is also very pretty and functional with its “Facebook inside Xperia” addition. read more →
- Thin, tall and narrow chassis makes it more comfortable to use than other big-screen Androids
- Camera with good low-light capabilities and native Panorama options
- Excellent loudspeaker
- Still no front-facing camera
- Minor upgrades compared to the Xperia arc

It's very beautiful phone, but I have some lags. This phone isn't rival for SGS2 (Galaxy S2). I have this phone 3 month and I like it! After 1 month battery will be low!
- Fantastic design!
- Big screen.
- Very good recording quality!
- Good camera (8MP).
- Battery is very low!
