You'd be better off not hoping to be surprised by the Sony Ericsson W8. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. This phone is supposed to have sentimental value. This may sound tacky but entry level phones usually fail to have a compelling enough story to tell. That's where Walkman comes in. And it's not like Sony Ericsson had to try too hard either.
Its not a bad phone if youre looking for a smartphone on the cheap. Its got the basics covered and doesnt promise anything it cant deliver. read more →

To wrap things up, we liked the Sony Ericsson Xperia W8 Walkman for being a simple to use entry-level smartphone and for coming with a pair of nice earphones out of the box. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much backing up its Walkman brand, let alone bring it back to life. The Xperia W8 is an easy way of joining the Android team, but the aging Android 2.1 Eclair version that it comes with will simply not give you the full potential of the platform. read more →
- High quality earphones
- Easy to use
- Affordable Android device
- Comes with Android 2.1 Eclair
- Poor camera performance
The Nokia X7 brings a much anticipated overhaul of the Symbian platform, but even with Anna, Nokia's platform UI and performance seems a year or even more behind rivals like Android and iOS. The Finns also fail to deliver contemporary hardware with a sub-par 680MHz CPU and only 256MB of RAM on the Nokia X7, which seem to be the main reasons behind its sometimes slightly laggy performance. The handset ships with Nokia's EDoF camera, a fixed-focus 8-megapixel unit, that brings great speed and below average photo quality, but no macro capabilities. read more →
- Good 4-inch AMOLED screen
- Solid build, unique design
- Free voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation
- The dated hardware slows down performance
- Price is hard to swallow
- Even with Anna, Symbian looks dated
- Fixed-focus camera
- Sub-par screen resolution
I belived in Sony a lot that I purchased this (W8-E16i)blindflodedly assuming it has good walkman functionalities. First of all it does not let me view my folders in my sd card which makes making playlist a tough job (I have seperate folders for seperate categories). Moreover if I create seperate playlists using the album, artiste etc., facility I cant merge playlist to make it one (Playlist of single artiste/playlist of same movie different parts) I have to resort to the painful one by one selection. I don't think it allows moving/deleting of tracks in a playlist (not shuffling arranging of tracks in the list in preferred order) as per my choice (I am yet to confirm this - bought the phone just yesterday). In short walkman seems to be a misnomer - It has no flexibility in using it as a walkman. Nevertheless I has excellent sound quality even without equilizer / Bass bost etc available. A DISAPPOINTMENT AS A WALKMAN PHONE.
Superbbbb.........
As per my openion it is one of the best cell phone under 10,000INR. Sony Ericsson's sound quality is awesome.
After disconnecting a call a message from subscriber will receive how much time spend for call how much fare it taken. After that till now i am searching to find the call summary detials. The basic model phones also have these facility. but in this W8 series waste of time to search....use less phone.
In call summary list if u touch for one number it takes another which is very far to that. It's a bug. I restores the phone twice and thrice but still the same problem. Very pathetic features. U can't store ur downloaded app. in memory card. out dated version.
w8 is one of the most fudu mobiles in this range
it does not have pintch zoom
the option menu is not complete even
this phone sucks
