Sony Ericsson W595 review: Music on the slide

The Sony Ericsson W595 is clearly a mid-range product and a very capable music phone we might add. Of course, there is still a trade-off to be made when choosing between the Walkman or the Cyber-shot part of the Sony Ericsson portfolio and in this case it's camera auto focus. But we are satisfied with the W595 image quality and have no grudge there.

So looking forward to better times with more reasonable pricing, we part ways with the Sony Ericsson W595 left with nothing but positive impressions. read more →

Sony Ericsson proves there's more to Walkman than mobile music

Ultimately the Sony Ericsson W595 won't win any awards for pushing technological boundaries, but it will provide a solid, reliable handset with an element of fun.

Call quality is excellent, both tonally and in terms of reception, and battery life is more than respectable giving on average around four days. read more →

Sony Ericsson W595 Review

In movies you’ll often encounter the “sequel syndrome” – no matter how many episodes come out from a series, neither of them is able to surpass the original. We didn’t like the W580 much, because at the time it was released its features were already outdated. A year later Sony Ericsson release a product that wouldn’t be any different from its predecessor, if it wasn’t the 3G support and the really nice browser. read more →

  • Lovely appearance
  • Outstanding internet browser
  • 'Shared jack'
  • High-quality sound during calls, and when listening through the headphones
  • The display handles well, even when exposed to direct sunlight
  • Unhandy keyboard
  • Lagging menus
  • Poor video support
  • No camera for the video calls.

Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman

This is a solid phone, aside from its lack of a real headphone socket. But if you're expecting anything radically new, you might want to wait a little while for Sony Ericsson to start innovating before you upgrade.

With all this in mind, we're happy to conclude that this is a solid, fun phone--aside from its lack of a real headphone socket and its poor video functionality. But if you're expecting anything radically new, you might want to wait a little while for Sony Ericsson to start innovating. read more →
