We were very excited about the Sony Ericsson Yari when we started the review. The camera-tracked gesture control combined with accelerometer action is a move in the right direction for gaming just look at the sales of the Nintendo Wii compared to PlayStation 3 for example (and the Wii just uses an accelerometer-enabled controller, it cant do the camera gesture trick).
And the primary camera was quite a surprise an unpleasant surprise. read more →
- Quad-band GSM support
- Tri-band 3G with HSDPA 7.2Mbps and HSUPA 1.8 Mbps support
- 2.4 16M-color display (240 x 320 pixels)
- 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash
- VGA video recording at 30fps
- Signal reception issues (could be unit-specific)
- Uncomfortable soft keys and keypad
- Camera produces bland, low-contrast photos
- No standard USB and audio ports
- Preinstalled gesture-based games not very impressive
The Sony Ericsson Yari delivers decent in- call quality. Voices sounded somewhat unclear and unreal on our end of the line, but were loud enough. As a whole, we didn’t have any problems understanding our callers. They didn’t happen to have any major gripes either, but said they’ve heard much better and rated us 7/10. Similarly to most Sony Ericsson feature phones, the Yari is equipped with quite a robust battery that provides about 10 hours of continuous calls (over 2G networks) and up to 19 days in standby. read more →
- Likeable, youthful design
- Comfy, snappy interface
- Good snapshot quality
- Proper audio playback
- Amusing games that are a far cry from modern standards
- Unhandy keyboard buttons
- Few preinstalled games, all additional titles are quite expensive
The Yari looks great, but doesn't have stellar features or applications. If you're in it for the games then be prepared for a serious disappointment. read more →
