If you have the feeling the Wave II came out of nowhere youre not alone. This is not your usual upgrade its an emergency response to what might one day be known as the 2010 SuperAMOLED crisis. Just kidding really, but we guess it always helps to keep good humor when things dont go quite as planned.
So yes, we do think losing the SuperAMOLED screen was the worst thing that could happen to the Wave II. read more →

The general specifications of the Wave II don't advance things a lot further than the original Samsung Wave. And generally the things we really liked and disliked about that handset remain the same here. Considering that we've found the Wave II online SIM free for £319 and the original Wave from the same seller for the same price that's probably not such a big point. The larger screen (from 3.3 inches to 3.7 inches) and increased internal memory (from 1GB to 2GB) are the main upgrades and both are welcome. read more →
- Long battery life
- Great build
- Smashing screen
- Good text entry
- Nice web browser
- Understocked app store
- Not enough widgets
- Poor navigation software
- No smart dialling
- Poor linking of Twitter and Facebook contacts
As for the calling capabilities , the Samsung Wave II performs very well. It doesn’t have dual mics for noise cancellation, but the single one does a commendable job at filtering out the background noise coming from around you. The earspeaker is loud enough, and the caller’s voice sounds natural, without any notable distortion. The loudspeaker is a bit on the weak and tinny side, which was explicable in a thin handset such as the first Samsung Wave , but here Sammy could have placed a punchier unit. read more →
- Very good camera
- Solid metal construction
- Rich support of video and audio codecs
- No ambient light sensor for automatic adjustment of screen brightness
- bada 1.2 browser still doesn't support Adobe Flash 10.1
In summary, we've mixed feelings about the Samsung Wave. It's not a massive update to the original Wave and certainly not worth upgrading too. However it's well built, the screen is excellent (although we'd still have liked Super AMOLED) and the UI is intuitive. However the browser really needs improving and the interface suffers next to the customisation of Android, and of course, app choice is poor. read more →
The Samsung Wave II is a bit like a stereotypical bodybuilder. It has a rock-hard body that'll impress passers-by, but there's not quite enough going on upstairs. More than a year has passed since Bada launched, but it has hardly developed since and so has lost even more ground to its older - and seemingly wiser - rivals: iOS, Android, Windows Phone et al. For those looking for a simple, high-quality touchscreen phone, the Samsung Wave II will do the trick, and has excellent video skills plus a good camera at the price. read more →
