The Samsung Monte has the looks and the specs, but does it have the brains?

When it comes down to it, we just can't recommend the Monte. It gets the basic functions right, so we commend it for that, but it's so frustrating to use.

We know it's aimed as being somewhat budget compared to smartphones, but it's still £120 – and this doesn't feel like £120 of quality overall. read more →

Samsung Monte S5620 Preview

The Samsung Monte S5620 is a typical handset of the new generation of mainstream feature phones. It is equipped with quite a few extra features, plus some of the interface novelties are pleasing and make operating the phone much easier. Similarly to almost all devices in the same class, the future of the Samsung Monte S5620 heavily depends on its price that, as of today, remains unknown. All told, it does have what it takes to become a great option for ordinary customers. read more →

Samsung Monte (S5620)

Samsung has done a good job of packing just about every feature you could want into a compact, nimble device. It's not perfect but, with intuitive menus, a host of widgets and a decent browser, the Monte will satisfy hardcore social-networking fans. It's a well-rounded phone that we enjoyed using. Samsung has managed to pack the Monte so full of useful tools and widgets that you probably won't miss the app stores found on higher-end devices. read more →

  • Appealing design
  • well-implemented widgets
  • 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity
  • decent camera.
  • Widgets are on the large side
  • interface is occasionally quite sluggish
  • poorly designed headphone jack.
