The Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 is not a phone to stun and impress. It sure is the first Android messenger by Samsung but not likely to have a prominent place in the companys lineup. Thats not necessarily a bad thing though the first thing for the Galaxy Pro to worry about is finding its right audience.
Back to the Galaxy Pro though its stand-out feature is the QWERTY keyboard and it just couldnt have been better. If its the messaging that youre after, you wont be disappointed at all. read more →
- 2.8" 256K-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) resolution
- Full four-row QWERTY keyboard
- ARMv6 800MHz CPU, 270MB RAM, 180MB of user-available storage
- Android 2.2.2 (Froyo) with TouchWiz 3.0 UI
- Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support
- The QVGA screen looks bad and limits the choice of apps
- Portrait homescreen ported to landscape takes some time getting used to
- QVGA-only video recording
- No shutter key
- No Adobe Flash support in the browser
The Galaxy Pro is definitely a unique little phone in a small subset of devices, and it certainly has its pros and cons. Though it has a keyboard, Samsung's layout makes typing on it almost as much as a chore as a virtual implementation. Lack of multitouch along with Samsung's added tweaks make the Android experience even less enjoyable on an already small screen. Its battery life is good enough to get you through the day, and performance seems decent enough, but you're not going to be playing graphics-intensive games on this phone aimed at current BlackBerry users. read more →
- Battery life gets through the day
- Thin, compact device
- Good call quality
- Confusing physical keyboard layout
- Small, low resolution screen
- Poor camera quality
The Samsung Galaxy Pro is a slippery little fish. We want to praise it for its keyboard, but berate it for its screen. Samsung could have helped matters by offering a higher resolution on the screen.
If you want a handset of this design, take a look at the HTC ChaCha or Nokia E6. But don't forget the Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 Mini Pro which, while it is a side-slider, is teeny - or, indeed, any of the larger side-sliders that offer a more desirable, larger screen. read more →
- Great keyboard
- Good music player and radio
- Surprisingly good camera
- Low price
- Good media streaming
- Small, low-resolution screen
- Only Android 2.2
- Slightly wide for small hands
- No headphones in box
So, if you're after a messaging phone, you want it to do cool stuff like tether, play music well and offer a greater selection of apps than a BlackBerry, all at a low price point, then the Samsung Galaxy Pro may be for you. Sadly, there is a compromise in the form of the screen. Its low resolution and lack of multi-touch puts it below other Android handsets specifically for tasks like web browsing and picture viewing. read more →
- Good price point
- Comfortable QWERTY
- Well connected
- Poor screen resolution
- Lack of multi-touch
- No flash
It began so promisingly for the Samsung Galaxy Pro - tight design and cool keyboard, combined with a low price tag, meant we had high hopes. But even though it's a trifle more expensive, we'd have to recommend the HTC ChaCha over the Galaxy Pro, which has a superior keyboard, much clearer screen and even throws in Facebook integration to boot. read more →
- Excellent keyboard
- Well-rounded chassis
- Design
- Low res screen
- Internet use
- Video use
awesomer
Good body material, big & finger fitting QWERTY keypad, Smooth OS functionality.
Disappointed, as it lacks multi-touch which is extremely necessary feature for android OS.
- Capacitative touchscreen (multi-touch disabled)
- camera flash
- autofocus
- low internal memory
- screen resolution
