The Samsung Galaxy Fit is yet another attempt by the Android army to storm the lower-end smartphone market. Placed right between the Galaxy Mini and the Galaxy Ace, the fit tries to deliver a solid smartphone performance at a very reasonable price.
Then again, expecting a device like the fit to match the capabilities of a Galaxy S smartphone is probably just being greedy. The bangs and whistles are for the high-end, while the Fit should be doing the basics and we have to admit it's doing that pretty well. read more →
- Quad-Band GSM and dual-band 3G support
- 7.2 Mbps HSDPA
- 3.3 65K-color QVGA TFT capacitive touchscreen
- ARMv6 600MHz processor, 280MB RAM
- Android OS v2.2.1 Froyo with TouchWiz v3.0 UI, Gingerbread coming up
- Low screen resolution
- No touchscreen haptics
- No Flash support in the web browser
- No video-call camera
- No flash, no camera key
The Samsung Galaxy Fit doesn't do much for us, we're afraid. It doesn't do anything spectacularly badly but it doesn't do anything spectacularly well, either, and the low res screen seems, well, too low-res. It has no particular USPs over many other similarly-priced lower-end Android smartphones.
We still can't get away from the fact that if you are strapped for cash and want an Android phone, the Orange San Francisco is one of our favourite handsets. read more →
- Settings area on main screen
- Small and light
- Easy access to task manager
- Camera quite serviceable
- FM radio
- Poor battery life
- Camera lacks flash
- Low-resolution screen
- No Flash support
- Short on internal memory
What we like about the Samsung GALAXY Fit is that it is comfortable to use and feels good in the hand. Besides that, it has every connectivity feature that a novice smartphone user would ever need. Photos taken with the GALAXY Fit look surprisingly good as well, and the TouchWiz UI runs smoothly on top of Gingerbread. Unfortunately, its low resolution display is quite unpleasant to look at. It makes reading text a painful task and turns surfing the web into a tedious process. read more →
- Comfortable to use
- Takes good photos
- Low resolution display
- Poor in-call quality
The Galaxy Fit has a classy design and its camera is better than those you get on most budget smartphones. However, its low resolution screen is a bit of a let down as it makes web browsing quite tricky and the handset doesn't support Flash. As a result we don’t think it's anywhere near as good as the similarly priced Orange San Francisco. read more →
- Clear call quality
- Good camera by budget smartphone standards
- Classy design
- Processor isn’t all that quick
- Low resolution screen
- Doesn’t support Flash
Samsung's Galaxy Fit is a low-end Android handset that nonetheless has features to appeal to those who need a phone for both work and play. read more →
