Samsung Galaxy 551 review: Value line

After a number of CDMA QWERTY messengers deployed stateside, Samsungs intentions are clear  continue to serve an underserved niche. Theres nothing particularly exciting about the Galaxy 551 in terms of styling or features but Samsungs first QWERTY messenger droid to work on European networks wont suffer from lack of attention.

Samsung I5510 Review

We were very pleased with the simplistic, unpretentious design of the compact QWERTY-laden Samsung i5510. Seeing Froyo and TouchWiz 3.0 perform in tandem for the first time out of the box, we are extremely optimistic about Android. The interface is snappy, smooth and functional, while the physical keyboard differentiates the Samsung i5510 from the existing Froyo pack. If you prefer touchscreen only, have a look at the Galaxy 3 , or, alternatively, if Android with a keyboard does it for you, the Motorola MILESTONE 2 hears your pain, but at a higher price. read more →

Samsung Galaxy 551

The Galaxy 551 is way overpriced for what's on offer. It delivers a decent, if buggy, smartphone experience, and the keyboard is good but you needn't spend this much for a comparable device.

Between Samsung and Telstra, someone has set the price of the Galaxy 551 way too high. Whether you choose to pay AU$480 outright or AU$59 per month, the Galaxy 551 just isn't worth it. The keyboard is excellent and Android 2.2 does offer loads of great features, but this describes so many other handsets too, many of them for much cheaper too. read more →
