The Nokia E90 Communicator is the latest addition to the set of contemporary high-performance devices for executives. We had to wait three years since the last Nokia 9500 Communicator appeared. Our patience was duly rewarded at the 2007 3GSM Congress, when Nokia unveiled the ultimate no-compromise mobile communication device. It remains faithful to some of the family traditions, others it forsakes, but the outcome is downright worth it. read more →
- Full-fledged keyboard
- Big and high-resolution display
- Integrated GPS
- Built-in maps and basic navigation without charge
- 128 MB memory
- Size and weight
- Third party applications incompatible with the built-in GPS
- Charges for navigation capabilities
- Multitasking still not perfect
- Inadequate battery life
The E90 is a hulking, top-notch, all-business smart device for those with deep (and large) enough pockets. read more →
- Stellar voice quality
- Heavenly keyboards, screens, and controls
- Wi-Fi and GPS radios
- Robust built-in applications
- Unlocked.
The E90 is a superb all-in-one device because it does what it sets out to do so well. Firstly, it offers everything that you could possibly hope for in such a device (with the possible exception of a touchscreen interface), with a wealth of features that will appeal to any gadget fan. But most importantly it does not forget that a smartphone is first and most frequently a phone - and as a mobile it is faultless. read more →
- Wi-Fi-enabled smartphone
- Typewriter console
- Built-in GPS and online mapping
- 3-megapixel autofocus camera
- Big and bulky
- Full satnav navigation costs extra
- No touchscreen interface
The first reaction when seeing the E90 is that it is HUGE. That’s true, but we can live with this fact, having in mind the features it offers. It reminds of the Ugly duckling – a big and plain phone on the outside, but with huge comfortable keyboard and easy to read display with resolution of 800 pixels on the inside. The combination of the last two turns the E90 Communicator into the ultimate device for internet usage, which thanks to the excellent Symbian S60 browser is visualized as on computer. read more →
- 800 pixels wide display that is perfectly readable in bright light
- Keyboard with lots of shortcuts
- Fully function smartphone when closed
- Strong battery
- Bulky size and lack of carrying case in the box
- Not 100% of the Symbian applications are compatible with the Wide-screen interface
The Nokia E90 Communicator has a feature set as large as its size, satisfying the needs of the power business users. That said, we're disappointed by the lack of 3G. read more →
- The Nokia E90 Communicator is equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS, and has a solid set of productivity and communication features for the business user. The Symbian smartphone also has a full QWERTY keyboard and 3.2-megapixel camera.
- The Nokia E90 doesn't support U.S. 3G networks, and speakerphone volume is a bit weak. The handset is also heavy and bulky.
