Symbian hasnt seen any groundbreaking changes in its recent history and Anna isn't one either - like the jump from ^1 to ^3, it's an incremental update that improves things but leaves some rough edges untouched.
Don't get us wrong - Anna is the best that Symbian has to offer right now (until Belle arrives anyway) and people with an N8, a C7, C6-01 or E7 should update as soon as possible - the browser alone is a good enough reason. read more →
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
- Quad/Penta-band 3G with 10.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA support
- 3.2" 16M-color ClearBlack AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 640 x 360 pixel resolution
- 8 megapixel fixed-focus camera with dual-LED flash and 720p video @ 25fps recording; geotagging, face detection, smart-zoom in videos
- Symbian^3 OS
- Disappointing battery life
- Symbian^3 is still behind Android and iOS usability (mostly in text input and web browsing)
- The camera is a fixed-focus unit, tends to oversharpen images by default
- No office document editing (without a paid upgrade)
- Relatively limited 3rd party software availability
The Symbian^3 debate is threatening to divide phone lovers the world over - is it a case of gadget snobbery from the Android/iPhone lovers, or is the UI simply too outdated to compete?
The Nokia C6-01 should be commended for a number of reasons - it manages to replicate the experience of the N8 in a much smaller and cheaper package with little difference. read more →
- Familiar interface
- Customisable Home screens
- Good camera
- Ovi Maps and Store
- Heavy and thick
- Some UI oddities
- No converter app
- Needs larger memory card
As much as performance is on paper good, after a week of using the Nokia C6-01 we couldn't get 'into' it, like we could with the Nokia C7 and N8. The experience is generally hampered by the unpretentious screen size, the phone is too thick, looking like a numeric pad should slide out of the bottom and the weighting is pretty off. On the plus, it does offer a huge array of connectivity options, fantastic video codec support, as well as a vibrant and deep image quality, thanks to the AMOLED and CBD technologies. read more →
- Full range of connectivity options
- Camera performs well
- Good battery life
- Text entry is uncomfortable
- Too thick
The Nokia C6-01 should overshadow the C7: it’s cheaper, has much the same functionality and, while smaller, a higher-quality display. The software on both is identical, and on paper the cameras are also the same. However, while the slick, sturdy C7 left us more impressed than we’d expected, the C6-01 proved underwhelming in comparison. The poor hand-feel and tubby chassis belie the solid materials, while the smaller screen left us less inclined to use the phone, even though its video playback abilities are strong. Nokia faces the same hurdles with Symbian^3 on this handset that we covered for the N8 and C7, but the C6-01 also offers less in the way of balancing out the usability compromise. read more →
I had purchased a cell phone Nokia C6 01 on 27 Oct 2011 from Sangeetha Bangalore. Invoice No. : - SI/HSR/5984. After two months( December), the keypad keys were not working. On complaining, the nokia service centre took almost a month to repair it, as it was sent to the headoffice, they notified as handset problem. Again after 4 months( around june 2012), the keypad keys were again not working. Again the service centre of nokia took two months for repair. This time they notified as a problem in software after sending it to their headoffice. I requested them to change the set as it was under warranty. They reassured me that there would be no further problem in future. But again after six months(march 2013), again there is same problem with the handset. On complaining to Nokia care Bangalore, they demand a service charge of Rs 8000. And now, my cell phone has exceeded the warranty period. You may verify this complain from sangeetha delight. I am really angry and completely dissatisfied by this kind of service as well as my cell phone.
