Its hard to criticize a phone like the Nokia C2-01 it was built to a budget and with beginner users in mind. A good first phone to give to a kid. A phone with mom and dad on speed dial rather than one used for complex and important grown-up tasks like playing Angry Birds. Alternatively its a phone for the emerging markets and thats where Nokia are doing quite well.
The native functionality of S40 is rich enough with Java apps filling in the holes: the data-efficient Opera Mini is a great example. read more →
- Entry level phone with decent features
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity
- Tri-band 3G connectivity
- 2.0" 256K-color QVGA TFT display
- 3.2MP fixed-focus camera
- Poor video recording
- No smart dialing
- Miserable display (almost no such thing as a viewing angle for this one)
- Relatively poor audio reproduction quality
The Nokia C2-01 ends up being quite a disappointing handset. It suffers too much from its small screen, style-cramping operating system, and lack of features like Wi-Fi and GPS.
We can see how it might appeal to smartphone naysayers who just want a handset for voice calling and a little SMS action, but even such people might like to consider taking their £80 and looking for a smartphone alternative – just in the interests of value for money. read more →
- Good battery life

- 3G not HSDPA
- No Wi-Fi

- Small screen
- Outclassed by similarly priced Android offerings
To wrap up, there are very few surprises with this handset, though it comes in a bit expensive considering what it offers. Nevertheless, what it does offer is a robust candybar phone with a few good connectivity features and a good music offering. So, if that's what you're looking for, it will fit the bill. Practically speaking, if you're looking for a better connected device, we'd recommend the Nokia X3-02 which comes with both Wi-Fi and a touch screen to facilitate web browsing. read more →
- Good quality screen
- Solid ergonomic design
- microSD support
- Small screen
- Camera has no autofocus or flash
- Confusing integration of two browsers
The Nokia C2-01 is solid and dependable, but is outclassed at the price. You can get the same features, in the same form factor, elsewhere. read more →
