Nokia Asha 311 review: A penny saved

#ExpertReview
By GSM Arena13 years ago
The featurephone game is quite the non sequitur. It is simultaneously a vestige of a time before smartphones and a reflection of their influence - and sometimes not a very clear one at that. Yet undeniably there is market for such devices, and the Nokia Asha 311 shapes up as the likely frontrunner as the Asha series keep blurring the lines between old and new, smart and dumb. At roughly 110, the 311 is by far the most expensive of the Asha series - and pretty pricey for a dumbphone, in general. The next step down in the Asha hierarchy is the dual-SIM Asha 305 which can be currently found for about 80. It offers the same touchscreen S40 interface but trades the capacitive touchscreen for a resistive one, has less storage and RAM, as well as no 3G support and Wi-Fi connectivity. The poor camera and abysmal video recording aside, the Asha 305 is clearly less fluid and responsive than the 311. Dual-SIM support is its major highlight.
  • Quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE
  • Penta-band 3G with 14.4Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps support
  • S40-based Asha touch interface
  • 3" WQVGA capacitive touchscreen, ~155 pixel density
  • Corning Gorilla Glass, Polarizing filter
  • 1GHz CPU, 128MB RAM
  • Nokia Browser 2.0
  • Nokia store and 40 EA games for free
  • 3.15 MP camera, VGA video recording
  • 140MB internal memory, microSD card support (up to 32 GB)
  • Complimentary 2 GB microSD card in the box
  • Proximity and ambient light sensors
  • Accelerometer, display auto-rotation
  • Bluetooth v2.1
  • Standard microUSB port, charging
  • 1100 mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Excellent loudspeaker performance
  • Good codecs support
  • Low screen resolution
  • Fixed-focus camera
  • No smart dialing
  • Costs as much as some smartphones

not good

this phone does not make me happy... it has the camera which is 3.2 megapixel but i think it is 3.2 vga cam,,, nokia 5233 has better camera than asha 311 and resolution also... i think nokia asha 311 is not user friendly, nokia 5233 most user friendly then asha 311 and nokia asha 311 has not better video recording also,, it's video player just disgusting... and so on... who use nokia 5233 if that person also use nokia 311 he know how nokia asha 311 it is... i'm just comparing asha 311 with nokia 5233 because i used nokia 5233 and it made me so happy,,, asha 311 has just wifi and it is 3g and nothing else,, i think nokia 5233 is better smart phone then asha 311,,, you can use many application in nokia 5233 but you can not doing this same to nokia asha 311...
