Nokia 6700 classic review: Sirocco Lite

At the end of this review it's less what we think and more how we feel about the Nokia 6700 classic. The honest truth is we fell in love with the phone the moment we opened the box. Mature and poised, business-like and trendy, the real classic styling seems to give the handset a very wide appeal.

As for specs - they are excellent for a feature phone. The handset can cater to a younger audience with its IM features provided by Ovi Contacts, and to a more diverse crowd with its trouble-free handling of email and navigation. read more →

  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
  • Tri-band 3G with 10Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA
  • Slim and sharp
  • Solid metal casing and beautiful design
  • 2.2" 16M-color QVGA display with excellent sunlight legibility
  • Memory card slot under the back cover
  • Smallish display
  • S40 interface feels clunky and out of date
  • No smart dialing, multi-tasking or even an office document viewer
  • No 3.5 audio jack

An affordable candybar phone that comes jam packed with features

The overall look and feel of the Nokia 6700 Classic is a winner – it sits in the hand nicely and simply does what you want it to do.

For the low price point, we're impressed with what Nokia has managed to cram into here – we can see many a businessman popping this in his inside jacket pocket and whipping it out at the golf club to check the football scores with a smile on his face. read more →

  • Lovely sleek and shiny chassis
  • Great 5MP camera
  • Quick processor
  • Easy to set up email
  • Easy to cover in fingerprints
  • Slightly underpowered browser
  • Video playback was limited

Nokia 6700 classic Review

Alongside of the Nokia 6300, the Nokia 6700 classic features an overall design that´s been streamlined and made even neater. It feels somewhat bulky, but we can live with that, because it´s not every day that you can see such a high quality of workmanship. The Nokia 6700 classic performs really well as being a phone as well – in-call quality is really good, voices sound loud, clear and realistic on either end of the line.Aside from its appealing overall look, the 6700 classic comes with new and improved WebKit-based browser that left us with good impressions. read more →

  • Likeable, stylish overall design paired with exquisite workmanship
  • High in-call quality
  • Capable WebKit-based browser and fast 3G support
  • Keypad buttons aren´t really comfy and the volume rocker is almost unusable
  • There´s neither Wi-Fi support, nor 3.5mm jack or convertor
  • Bad camera quality when there´s not enough light

Nokia 6700 classic

Though it doesn't come with every single feature out there, this handset will appeal to those who like a good-looking phone which feels solid in the hands.

Even with its premium design, the Nokia 6700 classic doesn't have a high price. It retails for S$505 and can be had for even less with operator subsidies. It does have some faults such as a stiff keypad and smudge-prone finish, but we fully expect those who like the design of the 6700 classic to look right past them. read more →

  • Stainless steel finish
  • 5-megapixel camera
  • HSDPA connectivity up to 10MBps
  • full HTML browser.
  • Keypad hard to use
  • no dedicated audio port
  • low-resolution screen not good for Web surfing.
