The Nokia 5250 is a phone that expects to impress with nothing but its cheap price. Its hard to think of it as a smartphone really theres so much missing from the package. Its a Symbian set though and Symbian is the place to go if youre looking for a budget smartphone.
Later on, there were even cheaper phones to succeed it and there were compromises involved all along. Its always been a matter of choice: Wi-Fi or GPS, 5530 or 5230. read more →
- Quad-band GSM, EDGE support
- 2.8" 16M-color 360 x 640 pixel resistive touchscreen
- S60 5th Edition (a.k.a. Symbian^1)
- ARM 11 434 MHz processor; 128MB of RAM
- 2 MP fixed-focus camera
- No 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS receiver
- Poor screen quality
- Doesnt charge off USB
- No preloaded Office document viewer
- No support for DivX/XviD videos out-of-the-box
The Nokia 5250 is a pretty basic smartphone, but that's not to say that it doesn't have its strong points - even if we put aside its affordability, which is the phone's main advantage, it offers good design and excellent music capabilities. However, if you are not overly impressed by this handset, you may look at some other low-end Nokia phones - for example, the Nokia Nuron 5230 or simply check our " Best Budget phones " category. read more →
- Cheap
- Reasonably good-looking for such an affordable handset
- No 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS service
- microSD card is a must-buy, due to the limited built-in memory
- No USB cable out of the box
We're all for budget smartphones, but every smartphone needs 3G. The 5250 might make a decent music player, but with fast connectivity, we're not holding much hope for this model.
The price of smartphones is plummeting and we're not sure you can launch a 2G phone these days and hope to compete with the Androids on offer from HTC and LG. The lack of 3G will be felt even more keenly because this phone runs of Nokia's Series 60 platform, which will offer a range of excellent features that customers will struggle to use with the painfully slow data speeds. read more →
