The latest Motorola Atrix is still based on an idea that's ahead of its time. But if you're the geeky type, you can have plenty of fun with this 4G phone that, with the right accessories, transforms into other devices. read more →
- Sharp, bright screen
- Powerful camera and 1080p video recording
- Very long battery life.
- Sluggish webtop mode
- Motorola's UI changes detract from rather than enhance Android
- Still a little buggy.
The Motorola Atrix 2 falls a bit short of the best Android phones, but is in the same league. The phone runs fast, has a bright screen and lasts all day. But if we had to pick an Android phone, we'd either choose the Samsung Galaxy S2 or wait for the Galaxy Nexus - and the Motorola Razr is probably the superior device coming from the Moto brand. read more →
- Light and portable
- Long lasting
- Great accessories
- Bright screen
- Low price
- Not as thin as some
- Some missing apps
- No NFC chip
- Not a 1.2GHz processor
Overlooking the obvious hardware improvements, like its larger display and camera, the absolute best thing going for the Motorola ATRIX 2 is its tempting $99.99 on-contract price. At that level, it’s almost guaranteed to attract hungry consumers who are strapped in the wallet with cash – while still offering a top of the line experience similar to the competition. In an era when $200 is no longer deemed as the golden price of high-end smartphones, it’s especially an endearing testament to see that the ATRIX 2 is striving to break the tradition. read more →
- Affordable $100 pricing
- Larger and more vivid display
- Great battery life
- Sub-par calling quality
- Faint details with its 1080p recording
For the price, the Motorola Atrix 2 is an amazingly feature-packed high-performance Android phone for AT&T customers.
The Motorola Atrix 2 is on the whole a rather incremental upgrade over the original Atrix. It has the same slab design, and since it still has a 1GHz dual-core processor and HSPA+ speeds, it's not that much faster. Yet, it does offer a number of improvements that should make Android fans happy. It ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and the Motoblur interface is not as intrusive as before. read more →
- The Motorola Atrix 2 has a sharp and colorful 4.3-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1GHz processor, HSPA+ support, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing camera, Webtop functionality, and it ships with Android 2.3.
- The Motorola Atrix 2 no longer has the fingerprint sensor, and there is a slight shutter lag that will not please camera enthusiasts.
The Motorola Atrix 2 is a worthy successor to the original Atrix, but a lack of compatibility with older accessories means no cheap hand-me-downs. Motorola has also confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) upgrade will be only available in Q3--which is really late. You may want to hold out for the upcoming ICS handsets instead. The Motorola Atrix 2 could have been a great smartphone, if it was released 3-6 months ago. read more →
