LG Fathom VS750

All in all, we have to say that LG is on the mark with its first Verizon smartphone (even if it's a rather boring mark). Of course, with the entire world (or at least a certain specialist segment that we cater to) counting down to Windows Phone 7, and with amazing things coming from the Android community every day, the whole WinMo thing feels a bit like a throwback. And at $150 (with $100 rebate and two year contract) we think the companies are hitting a little high. read more →

  • Straight WinMo 6.5.3 UI
  • Bright, crisp display
  • External microSD slot
  • Pics tend to look 'washed out'
  • Pricey
  • Unlock key hidden along the top of the device

LG Fathom VS750 (Verizon Wireless)

The LG Fathom is a fine piece of hardware running an ancient mobile OS that we just can't recommend to anyone any more. read more →

  • Sweet QWERTY keyboard
  • Sharp video playback
  • Great battery life.

    LG Fathom VS750 Review

You’ve heard of the saying “timing is everything”, and in the case of the LG Fathom VS750, timing is against it. Windows Mobile smartphones are no longer the only game in town, as we now have Android and webOS. Furthermore, Windows Phone 7 devices are on the horizon, so die-hard WinMo fans are waiting to see what that will bring. At this point, we can only see someone buying the LG Fathom VS750 if they absolutely must have a Windows Mobile device right now that has a QWERTY keyboard and also includes global roaming capabilities. read more →

    • Global CDMA/GSM roaming
    • 1GHz Snapdragon processor
    • Resistive touchscreen
    • Below average call quality and reception

    LG Fathom review (Verizon Wireless)

The LG Fathom is a well-built Windows Mobile phone with plenty of features, but its occasional lapse in performance can be annoying. read more →

    • The LG Fathom is solidly constructed with a bright display and a roomy QWERTY keyboard. It comes with Windows Mobile 6.5.3, and has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It supports CDMA and GSM networks for use worldwide.
    • The LG Fathom's resistive touch-screen display is not as intuitive as we would like. We also noticed slight sluggishness with its accelerometer and image refresh rate. The LG Fathom's bulky exterior might not be for everyone.

    LG Fathom (Verizon Wireless) Review

Can a good keyboard and fast 1-GHz processor save this Windows Phone from its lame duck OS?.

At $149 after a $100 rebate, the LG Fathom is a hard sell. There are a number of Verizon Wireless phones that are better in terms of design, feature set, and price. The Motorola Droid’s keyboard is relatively lackluster, but it runs many more apps and has a bigger screen and better browser. The HTC Droid Incredible has the same CPU, a brighter AMOLED screen, the powerful Android OS, and Exchange support. read more →

    • Snappy 1-GHz processor
    • Comfortable keyboard
    • Works overseas
    • Loud speaker
    • Struggles with multiple programs open
    • Need stylus in certain apps
    • Relatively small occasionally unresponsive screen
    • No multitouch support
