LG BL20 New Chocolate review: Bittersweet Noir

The new Chocolate series by LG are trying to carve some new shapes into the design landscape. The BL40 is in charge of that. It allowed the designers to unleash their creativity and bend the rules. It's the limited edition, the luxury piece. The BL20 in turn is staying faithful to the original Chocolate concept, trying to revive an iconic name.

So in the end, with some subsidizing from your carrier, you might as well get yourself a fashion device on a bargain - without the  price premium it started off with. read more →

Smooth and slim - but is this a case of style over substance?

As sweet-looking as the LG Chocolate BL20 is, it's not as tempting as it might have been had LG stacked it up with more functionality to go with its fine design.

Its feature rundown is decent enough for a mid-level 3G phone, but it's not innovative or particularly exciting, and touch sensitive controls, while eye-catching, aren't as in vogue as touchscreen operation. read more →

LG New Chocolate BL20 Review

We have already told you about the great operational speed of the handset. Well, the in-call quality is in stark contrast to it. We felt mortified by the hollow and indistinct voices we heard and making out what the other person was trying to say was almost impossible. Those of you who opt for the LG New Chocolate BL20 will have severe troubles with normal conversations. As it turned out, things were slightly better on the other end of the line. read more →

  • Uncomplicated, yet expressive, trendy design
  • Extremely comfy keypad
  • Snappy interface
  • Attention! Put on a pair of gloves, the phone LOVES fingerprints
  • Mediocre video playback
  • Disappointing camera
  • Horrifying in-call quality

LG Chocolate (BL20v)

The BL20v's good looks may fool you into thinking it's more capable than it actually is. Under the sleek exterior the new Chocolate slider is relatively feature poor, but what it does do, it does well.

Though we complain about the absence of Facebook or a preinstalled game to play on the train, the Chocolate Slide will fit the bill for a good many people. It makes calls and sends messages with ease, the camera is passable, the smooth menu navigation is a pleasure to use, and it looks fantastic doing it. read more →
