At IFA this year, Huawei brought along its swanky Mate S, which was promoted as world’s first smartphone with a force touch display. Huawei’s hasty implementation was intended to beat Apple to the game, and that did help with instant global recognition, but the force touch on Mate S has its limitations.
To start with, it will be available only on the 128GB variant, availability details and price for which haven’t been confirmed. Secondly, since Huawei didn’t release any API, and since the technology is fairly new, there isn’t much incentive for developers to work on it just yet. On its end, Huawei has integrated Force Touch with several system apps and other parts of the UI rather efficiently.
We do expect that you will be able to buy Huawei Mate S 128GB online in India, post India launch. Besides Force Touch, Huawei also talked a lot about meticulous attention it paid to the Mate S design. The new Mate has a beautiful metallic unibody exterior, with a gentle ergonomic curve on the rear side, which along with the slim, svelte profile makes it extremely comfortable to hold in hands.
Talking of other features and specifications, Huawei Mate S includes 5.5-inch AMOLED display, with 1080p full HD resolution, with very narrow bezels around it. Huawei also discarded anything beyond Full HD as superfluous.
All heavy lifting will be done by HiSilicon Kirin 935 (quad-core 2.2 GHz + quad-core 1.5 GHz) with Mali-T628 MP4 and 3GB RAM. All three storage variants – 32GB/64GB/128GB – will also include support for up to 128GB secondary MicroSD storage. Software is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with EmotionUI 3.0 on top.
For photography, there is a 13MP front camera with optical image stabilization, autofocus, dual LED flash and an 8MP front camera, also furnished with LED flash for low light selfies. Other features include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, an accurate fingerprint sensor and a 2750mAh battery.
Huawei is expected to push Mate S in India through online ecommerse stores. You can add alert to promptly know the lowest price of Huawei Mate S in India once it is officially listed.
